How many disingenuous statements can you find in this video? :cuss:

http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=4711745&affil=wplg

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
1. It shows a table of hand grenades and what look like 40 mm shells while some guy says "95% of the guns come from the USA."

2. It also calls the 5-7 pistol the "matar de policia" (Cop Killer.)

3. They film a Texas gun store (without permission I presume) while failing to mention the black rifles they are showing are not actually fully automatic. - like the ones they show the Federal Agents and Mexican Banditos firing.

Yeah, so much bull. This is just meant to trick people who don't know any better. How the heck do you buy a machine gun or a grenade here in the U.S.?

They put AK's and AR's in a class called "assault weapons", making them seem like they are somehow more dangerous than any other rifle.

The focus should be on border control, not on the weapons.

I'm going to write them an email about these lies.

*EDIT*
I did send them an email. I hope that others do the same.

How were these weapons going from the US into Mexico? This wasn't explained. I'm willing to bet 90+% are US legally purchased, then stolen, then smuggled into Mexico.

Since when are AKs and ARs "High Power" rifles? And, aren't most firearms "Cop Killers" with the proper ammo?

Yesterday the ATF arrested a Phoenix FFL for illegally selling over 650 AKs to two individuals who smuggled them into Mexico for the drug cartels. Anybody can cross the border heading south without being stopped. All the inspections are for people heading north into U.S.

If Mexico wants to guard its borders, it should do so. Maybe it could even work with us, even.

But then their second largest source of revenue would dry up.

So they bitch about guns, as if they couldn't get them from the Middle East, if they had to, or China, or wherever. There are plenty of shady characters all over the world who will sell some AK's to get some cash.

Don't the drug cartels know it's illegal to have those things in Mexico? They are disobeying the LAW! Can you imagine that? A drug cartel breaking the law? We should pass a law to stop this! :banghead:
Apparently you can go to a gun show in Texas and buy M-60s and FiveseveNs with AP ammo with no waiting period! Well at least ABC spelled their name right on the video.

Wow, I survived the video. Way they were talking, I thought perhaps that <<mata policia>> would penetrate so well it'd exit through my computer monitor!

Okay. Here's the solution:

1. Seal the border...period.
2. Outlaw Mexican drug gangs.
3. Outlaw Mexican drugs.
4. Outlaw corrupt Mexican cops.
5. Outlaw corrupt Mexican military.
6. Create a 5 mile DMZ. Anything moves therein, slice-it and dice-it.
7. Finally, I propose a swap: the 15 million illegals back to Mexico, for the whatever firearms walked across illegally into Mexico.

This is just round 1, of the future war on the 2nd Amendment.

5.56 & 7.62x39 are indeed high power rifle cartridges.

The regularity that the media drops the "automatic weapons" bomb is sickening

The $450 straw purchased AK (plus what ever your giving the buyer) vs the $100 surplus items delivered from THEIR souther border seems like a pretty poor investment.
Ignore the fact that 99% of the US weapons in mexico are stolen & resold for drugs. . .

This is all a result of the war on drugs...

When was the last time you heard about gangs controling the smuggling, manufacturing, and distribution of alcohol?

1930s' right?

5.56 & 7.62x39 are indeed high power rifle cartridges.
I always thought they were considered "intermediate" rifle cartridges. I guess my hunting rifles fire uber-powerful "hand of God" rounds.

Come on guys, you bitch about the media and then make your own mistakes.

How the heck do you buy a machine gun or a grenade here in the U.S.?
Use the search function, it is not that hard.

Anybody can cross the border heading south without being stopped.
Wrong, they do random stops and checks at their crossings like we do, maybe not as many. There is a thread here on THR about a soldier that is sitting in a Mexican jail because he was caught with a weapon.

Since when are AKs and ARs "High Power" rifles?
Thanks dzhitshard, just reinforcing you comment.

Not to say that the media is not guilty of infractions, but lets not let our passions get in the way of reason.

So you're saying that machine guns and grenades are so easy to get that they would be worthwhile to buy them in the U.S and sell them in Mexico?

The video makes it seem like you can just go into a gun shop and buy and automatic gun with a grenade or two, with no waiting period. Since most people get their information from the news, this is what most people will believe.

When will they do a story about the crime Mexicans smuggled into the United States cause?
lol, true.

Mexican criminals

have come here by the millions, stole our money, jobs, healthcare security and soverignity. They flood our country with untraceable gangsters, drugs and violence. They bring back to Mexico billions of U.S. dollars and illegal weapons and that is somehow our fault?
Why don't they complain about all of the money?

What about these illegal Mexican guns with soldiers attached. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEKUJGT2xr4

I totally agree with the suggestion of having a DMZ. I think what with them sending all their most violent criminals to our country including their military and then blaming us, we need to return the favor. Hey, why don't we take all of our inmates, remove their citizenship and then ship them south of the border and use military force to push the issue. That will greatly reduce the number of Democrats, ridding us of our crime problem, while giving Mexico a taste of its own medicine. This has become a war that we must start fighting and be determined to win.

We don't want their business or their criminals. Enough is enough.

I work with a guy who grew up in Mexico. I gave him the 5 minute explanation of US gun laws one time. He was surprised. Everyone in Mexico thinks you can just walk into a store here and buy whatever you want. They don't know anything about background checks and NFA laws.

I guess you can buy an grenade in the US, but I don't know how many hoops you have to jump through and I suspect it is a lot.

I can't think of a better reason to secure our boarder with Mexico.

Not only will it keep the illegals out but it will cut down on crime and infighting between Mexican drug cartels and save innocent lives. Now the gun control folks can jump on the bandwagon to seal off Mexico from us bitter people who've found nothing better to do with our lives except demand that we be able to keep our guns.

A win : win situation if I've ever seen one! :D

I've said it before ad I'll say it again: Mexico is a failed state, propped up only by oil revenues and checks sent home by illegal immigrants in the US.

Actually, one can buy a machinegun or grenade without going through NFA red tape.
Hell, you don't even need to go through a background check.

It's called the illegal arms trade, and it is, unfortunately, active in this country.

It is active in this country...

because criminal aliens are free to bring, armor/weapons, drugs and their sellers into our country from the third world with impunity. Lets be clear, it is not law-abiding citizens legally in posession of weapons that are doing this. It is the criminals from Mexico, primarily, Central and South American, Africa, Asia and the Middle-East.

Stop their military incursion and destroy all of their criminal networks by destroying these illegal hordes both individually and the nations who are perpetrating these acts against us. In other words, send em all back by force and use military force to destroy any agents of foreign nations caught invading our country. It is simple. You cross the border with people, armor, guns or drugs, you die. No amnesty! No medical aid! Nothing but iron cages and lead should be dispensed to these locusts and even that should be charged to the offending governments.

Stop the invasion!

Frankly, I think we should be sending guns to Mexico: it's a nation in dire need to a revolution.

Seconded. Plus, we need to revive our economy with exports.

What strikes me as ironic is that ABC should be happy that guns are leaving this country. They are evil and stuff. :( Damned if we do, damned if we don't, I suppose.
