I came across this gun, and was wondering if anyone had any information about it. It is marked "Allen Arms, Sante Fe" on the top barrel flat, and "Uberti" on the side of the frame. The blued parts have a much deeper, finer polish than average, more like a Colt Python or Smith 27. I haven't had a chance to feel the action, but can tell the hammer spring feels light.

So, is this gun up to recent Uberti quality? New Uberti Dragoons are about $350, what is a fair price for this one. It looks nearly new, if not new. I'll look it over better tomorrow.

A google of Allen Arms produced a Allen Western Arms- Santa Fe if that is any help. I recently purchased a Uberti Walker Colt for $250. from Kittery Trading Post, Kittery Maine. They were good to do business with.

I sold a rifle at the show, so bought the Dragoon.

Wow, is this thing heavy! I can see why the Navies and 1860 Army's were popular when they became available. The Dragoons action is very smooth and slick, with decent springs, not too light, and not too heavy. It isn't quite as "near new" as I first thought, but is very good, and for $200, it seems like a good deal. Can't wait to shoot it. I bought a flask and some various spouts, should be able to fit one for a load for the Dragoon. Seems that 50 grains was the max load, if I recall correctly. I really want to try it at 300 yards and see how it does. Not many buffalo around to try it on, least not in my price range. Hmm,.....might ask the local buffalo rancher if I can whack one he's going to butcher.

Forgot to mention, it's a First Dragoon.
