Am I being more paranoid than usual?

Drove out to one of my LGS today to pick up my new rifle I ordered a few weeks ago. On the way back I stopped at Bass Pro Shop and found a welcome mat that said "Warning: Trespassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again." I have always loved this slogan and for $10 it was a steal. I got it home and thought to myself "What if someone sees this and KNOWS I have firearms to steal when I'm not home?" Similar to the thread a few weeks ago about having NRA and related stickers on your vehicle. So am I being overtly paranoid?

I don't think you're being paranoid.
Essentially, you're advertising that you have valuables in your home, and also that if someone wants to burgle your home, they'd better arm themselves.

Those are fun slogans and always make me smile. However, I don't put any kind of stickers on my car, truck, doors or windows. I will not give a lawyer even one fingernail grip to use against me. I also don't want the BG to think he has a reason to target my home or vehicle.

Thats not being paranoid. Remember, they...the lawyers and criminals...ARE out to get us.

My only concern would be, somwhat depending on local 2a stance, the DA using it to try and paint u as an insane bloodthirsty gun nut should you ever actualy have to shoot an intruder. Of course end of the day, justified is justified, but it could give more ammo to prosecution. "I'm paranoid, but am I paranoid enough"

I don't think it is a big deal and wouldn't worry about it. If they get to your door mat and you don't know them, they were probably going to try to steal from you anyways.
Back when I lived in an apartment in Cincinnati in a shady apartment complex, I hung up a silhouette that I shot up at the indoor range on my door. I never had a problem.

I personally don't think it's a good idea.

I'm not in anyway suggesting that the OP is anything like these two, but that's how the story might be spun if you're ever unlucky enough where you have to defend your home. It makes the homeowner look bloodthirsty and gives thieves a heads up that there are guns inside worth stealing.

The message you are putting out is " if anyone is home move on, if the house is empty there are valuables to be had". Burglars do not want confrontations, they can tell if a house is empty in minutes, they want items they can move fast for cash (read: guns and jewelry).

I don't know about "paranoid" and I don't know where the OP lives but having lived in; Minnesota, Massachusetts and California, I wouldn't have that sentiment posted anywhere openly anymore than I would have a "beware of dog" sign.

Just as with the potential litigation effect of the dog sign, I wouldn't want to be dealing with photos of that floor mat in a post event law suit - should one live in one of those awful law-suit happy regions.
