Let's see some pictures with your ar's and the sights you have put on them. What do you like/dislike about your setup?

Nice Nikon I picked up new at half price from ATG, but the recticle is a bit thick to suit me. The thick part of the recticle also goes too far towards the middle closing up the sight picture even more. It's fast though, and that was the intention of the design.

2-7x26 burris timberline on an ebay mount. (strongly resembles the primary arms deluxe ar mount) Glass isn't as good as my viper and off a sandbag at 100 yds I wish I had a couple more power, but the small size and lower power make it much easier to shoot offhand.

i have some AR15 pictures here http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=494013

quite a bit has changed in the 2 yrs since i wrote that post though.

swaro now offers a choice of several more useful reticles in their z6i line which solves about the only thing i had against that scope. unfortunately, i haven't had the cash to upgrade. (oh, and that scope is pretty heavy)

i long ago got rid of the magnifier behind that aimpoint micro t1. just didn't like it. wasn't using it. but the micro T1 remains awesome.

still love the ACOG. it's sort of an optic i always go back to after trying something else. my times get pretty uncompetitive when i use it in matches with short-range stages but it is awesome for the mid range stuff.

the Nightforce 1-4x NXS is a POS. don't ever buy one.

I really need to try some of the newer stuff out there like the new trijicon stuff, but all my $ for the past few years has gone to long-range guns.

Just had this in another thread, but here is my new aimpoint PRO. I like it a lot for its purpose. Obviously lacks on longer range precision, but the acquisition speed is great. And it looks cool:rolleyes:

NF 2.5-10x32 NXS. I like it because it works. Glass is clear, clicks are positive and it rings steel to 500 without much effort. I also like the small profile. I would change a couple things. 1. Illumination starts at the brightest setting, I would prefer to start low and work up. 2. No way in heck would I ever need it that bright in the first place.

9mm carbine with EOtech XPS-3. Perfect optic for 9mm. Limit yourself to 100 yards and there's nothing that can't be done. Low recoil and fast with hi capacity mags, what's not to like?

I've got another AR with a TA33G-H ACOG on it, but I don't think I've taken any pictures of it.

Maybe tomorrow...

Here's a BCM with a MIllet 1-4 DMS

Not an AR15 but an AR variant with a Sightron 6-24 MilDot

BCM 16" barrel with a Vortex Strikefire red dot. I heard some good things about them and I didn't want to spring for an Aimpoint. So far it's great at 50yd range. Anything beyond that and I would like to have some magnification.

SWFA SS 1-4x survived it's first IDPA Carbine match today. I can't say the same for the cardboard targets.

So what exactly makes the NF 1-4 NXS a POS?

That's a pretty bold claim; NF makes great stuff, not only in my opinion, but in those of lots of professionals I respect.

i didn't say all NF was bad, just their 1-4. I have some of their other scopes and have been happy with them. The 1-4x has the worst distortion of any scope I have ever seen. It's not just at the edges of the glass, but it looks "fish eyed" almost to the center. It was so bad I sent it back to them. About a month later they returned it to me and said there's nothing wrong with it; they''re all like that.

If you think I'm crazy, pm me. I'd be happy to sell it to you considerably below retail. I have no use for it. But I'll warn you, I have showed it to lots of people and no one has disagreed with me after looking through it.
