Stockpiling is a verb...like “stashing away”...If you think THAT is a stockpile you do have a problem
And it’s a good start OP.

How many are you allowed for your Brown Bess? Not allowed to do that here.
That's .50 cents a round or $10 a box of 20. Though not a stellar price prior to covid/antifa/elections, it's quite a fair price currently.
Yeah ... I'm going to hang onto my dust-covered pair of G/K43 mags a little while longer, though. As is said, "Hope springs eternal". <sigh>I've bought magazines in anticipation of buying a firearm that wasn't readily available (only to have to sell them someday having realized I wasn't going to buy the gun).
Good idea buying ammo. Hope you find a nice rifle when the time is right.
Don’t forget the magazines, sling, optic and mounted light.
AIM Surplus currently has a Turkish brand of buckshot, Sterling, at $8.95 for a box of 10.Academy has it for the same price.
And I've been doing the same. Don't own an AR yet but I now have about 180 rounds of 556.
I should have done that as well when I saw some Remington 12 gauge buckshot there awhile back. 2 weeks later Academy had Maverick 88's in stock and I grabbed one
Excellent! Whatever works for you.... The big ticket items come first, then the "accessories". ...
That's how I ended up with a Berthier rifle a few years ago.
Then a beater Lebel.
IDK, he has over 2k rounds of a cartridge he doesn't even have the firearm for yet. It's a healthy start.
I have only 3 ARs and a smidgeon over 10k of various .223 and 5.56, with about a 3rd of it being Federal XM193 or 855. Once he buys an AR, his ammuntion/firearm ratio will be close to mine.
Now when it comes to .22LR... I indeed have a stockpile, by anyone's definition.
Do you think 10K rds. is enuf to protect yourself?
I have a problem.
