My current truck gun is a Ruger MKII with 3 loaded magazines in a hard case, in the console of my F-350.(Illinois legal).
I disagree. I've done it for close to 40 years as does most who have CCWs here. Very few who have CCWs carry on their person but almost all have vehicle carry guns. This isn't a "one size fits all" situation. Circumstances and environs differ and vehicle carry is the most effective for me and those in my area.THIS IS A REALLY DUMB IDEA.
If I'm concerned about someone thinking I'm carrying a large amount of money around with me, I think as far as handguns go, a Draco in 7.62x39 might be more appropriate..
What would be wrong with the gun you normally use for your EDC/CCW?
I am now retired and no longer make the hour long drive to work. During the decades that I commuted to work at night,I travelled through some of the roughest areas Birmingham has. My employer and our customer (I worked on site)neither allowed firearms on their property. I was faced with keeping my firearm in my vehicle or going unarmed. Guess what I chose to do. I will continue to do so. I keep a CZ-82 in my truck,my wife keeps a Taurus 85UL in her console and our older daughter keeps her mom's S&W Model 36 in the glove compartment of her car. Both still work in Birmingham and both work in unsavory parts of town. They aren't allowed to carry either and discovery means termination. Make your own decision. Please, please, please do not store a gun in your truck, car, camper, boat, etc. The best reason to leave a gun in a motor vehicle is to arm career criminals.
