Theoretically, if you were in combat and could have the choice between the hi power and the M9, which would you take? I would take the Hi Power b/c I think it is a better pistol, scaled perfectly to the 9mm cartridge. have always thought the Beretta 92 aka M9 was too bulky for the cartritge. Completely irrelevent but the Hi Power is just a classier pistol.

The M9... Not becuase I think one or the other is better, but becuase I have more trigger time with the M9 then I do the BHP.

Excellent reasoning. For that same reason I'd choose the BHP.

I own both and would choose either depending on availability but then again I would choose a Glock over both of these given the choice.

Browning High Power for me.

Either gun is a good choice as long as you have good mags and ammo. However, the M9 is too large for my hands. It feels like I'm holding a 2x4. In contrast, the BHP feels like it was made for me.

Own both, I would take the Browning. I still have the locking block worry in the back of my mind with the Berettas. I've seen three Berettas whose locking blocks have sheared.

Since we're fantasizing, can I use hollowpoint rounds, too? :p

Between those two choices I'd take the BHP. If I'm stuck with ball ammo, I'd like a .40 or .45 please.

I hate the Berettas. They don't fit my hand, the trigger pull, even with lots of use is awful and the ones I've seen didn't hold up well. Besides, it's HUGE for the caliber.

I've got one of the old style Browning High Powers. Nobody's ever going to confuse the trigger pull with that on my Giles .38 Special M1911, but with the magazine safety removed it's decent. Mine has the old terrible front sight, which I paint white with an enamel paint marker. It has a Pachmayr adjustable rear. The Mark IIIs have good combat sights.

I'll take a BHP to the Beretta every time.

HP, for the same familiarity reason.

i also never "felt" the Beretta's. even when iv shot them, they just seemed to be like a Miata. sure it looks like alot of fun, and serves well for its price, but its not anything to write home about

combat i would take the beretta 92, because thats what the armed forces use, plenty of mags spare parts etc ;try that in war with a high power.

Huh?

THE MACHINIST: combat i would take the beretta 92, because thats what the armed forces use, plenty of mags spare parts etc ;try that in war with a high power.

I think MOST of our allies ARE using the Hi Power with no ill effects (and have been since WWII).

I doubt that parts or mags for the HP would be difficult to find anywhere in the non ComBloc world. Certainly easier to find than the 92.

I would rather take a Hi Power into combat based simply on ergonomics. The Beretta offers nothing over an HP.

the hi-power id easier to customize. the m-9 holds more bullets. personally I would rather have a better trigger than more bullets.

BHP right here. First hand gun I shot, absolutely loved it. Love the looks, easy to clean, never had a problem with it jamming etc. Accurate and WIDELY available gun. Don't have experience with a Beretta, I'm sure its nice, I just really like the HP.

I have the same issue with Beretta that I do with the P226. Very large guns for the round it fires.

Grimjaw. absolutelly you can use hollowpoints. I was already sold on the hi-Power just wondering what you guys thought. I think I am about to be hired by a big time military contractor in the Middle East in a non combat position. Actually I don't know if I will even be allowed to carry. For that matter, I don't even have the job yet. Can't hurt to plan ahead of time and get your general opinions on combat weapons.

A left handed answer

I'd want an M-9a1 BerettaUSA :D

The Browning High Power is very nice, but not very ambi...

No tac rail either...

I very good friend of mine just got home from a 15 month tour as a contractor. He was in the Green Zone in Bahgdad. No weapons were allowed for contractors, with the exception of the security teams.
