Check this link to Bushmaster's website it looks like a countdown for the ACR. If it is half the price of a SCAR I would consider one but I wonder if Remington's will be more affordable.

Could it be just a countdown to another 12-month delay?

BTW the marketing plan I've seen is that Remington will be for military sales, Bushmaster for civilian and LE sales. No that doesn't make sense to me, but it is what I have read.

Who knows? The rifles are going to be made in the same plant, anyway...I just don't know why they'd use Remington at all for marketing purposes for the ACR.

I don't think I'll be buying one, but whatever. Be nice to finally see how Bushmaster does this rifle and how closely it follows what Magpul envisioned...

Travis Haley and Chris Costa of MagPul Dynamics has been runnig them hard and testing them out. As a matter of fact they Halo'ed one in not to long ago. so far everything seems to be looking and soundging good, and if they bless off on it, i know it will be good to go.

Well the handguards or funny lookin "quad" rails in the 5sec movie arent like anything I have seen on the other ACRs

Well I'm glad to see Remington jumping into the black rifle market (and silencers too).

"In common use" from Heller comes to mind. With Remington pumping out black rifles the normalization of EBRs is coming along nicely.

i'd like one of each (an ACR and a SCAR) to toss in the safe before the 2nd term, but it will be at least a decade before either of those supplant my ARs as 'go to' guns

At $2,000+ I'll just buy another AR.

O yay! I just read that Bushmaster is going to offer it with a 1:9 cold-hammer forged barrel. ***? That is like selling somebody a Ferrari with retread tires.

Well, seems to me Bushy simply knows who the target market for this rifle is....

And it ain't guys like you :)

For $2000 I think I'll just buy TWO 6920's.

Not impressed. Especially for $2500 not impressed.

Looks blocky and heavy. Sights look cheap. Not one significant advantage over an AR15.

Pass

They are definitely ramping up the marketing even more than usual. Maybe it will actually happen sometime this year.

I'm guessing the "countdown to shot show" website indicates they will project another release date at said show; one that may actually be hitable (fingers crossed?). After that date you can wait for a year for prices to come down to MSRP, or pay 4-8K if you gotta-have-it-now, if the SCAR is any indication.

If they make it in 6.8 and different barrels available, they will have already one-upped the SCAR in terms of having their modular rifle actually be modular.

1:9 twist? When I really want to shoot 77gr, I've got a bunch of 1:7 ARs already, so no big deal as far as I'm concerned. If they are open to making barrels and there is demand for 1:7, why wouldn't they make one down the road anyway?

$2300 is well beyond the original projected price, at least way back when it was Magpul's design.

I would prefer to buy it as a Remington rather than a Bushmaster. Like usual, I'll just wait a bit after any release and see what pans out. Based on the speculation available today, however, between an evenly priced ACR and SCAR, I'd take the SCAR first.

Could someone please explain this?
