That's the disappoiinting part, I used to think I was part of the target market

heh

but seriously, what is their target market?? when they start their advertising with "One rifle..." my first thought was, who wants just one rifle?? :)

i mean, seriously, it's not like you're going to take all those extra stocks, barrels and triggers around with you and swap them out in the field.

i'll wind up buying one though, most likely

OK, looking at the catalog page, it appears those are all 16" barrels. So my next question is "Why do all of those barrels have M4 cuts on them?"

My understanding has been that Remington will be marketing to the military, so there isn't any real burning need to mount an M203 on the rifles for most of Bushmaster's customers - and even if there was, is it even possible to do it give the location of the gas block, handguard and regulator?

I also notice that the same M4 cut is conspicuously missing from the disassembled version showing a 10.5", 14.5" and 18" barrel.

So what is the logic behind the M4 cut on the barrel? If these are all new, hammer-forged, nitrided-finish barrels, why make them in 1:9 with an M4 cut? On the other hand, if you've got a lot of 1:9, chrome-lined M4 barrels you need to get rid of, the M4 cut makes perfect sense given the Masada's original use of modified AR barrels.

So they did way with the "direct inpingement gas system" of the AR15/M16? They have a gas piston system?

By the time I have money for one, the price will hopefully drop! I dont like the tri-rails either. Im a big fan of magpul, and if their still saying this is a good rifle then im gonna take their word for it. By the time I have money though, there will be enough reviews out to persuade me in another direction if its bad or not worth it.

Yes, it is a next gen carbine in the same vein as the SCAR and XCR... the operating system has little to nothing in common with the AR.

There is not a gun in the world that should cost more than $1500. Especially if it is supposed to be a mass produced military weopon.

Several posters at AR15.com are reporting that Bushmaster has released the MSRP as:

$2,685 for the Basic (Release date: March 1, 2010)
$3,068 for the Enhanced (Release date: May 2010)

If that is true, then Bushmaster has gone delusional. All I can think is that they don't have an actual production line set up yet and so are basically hiking the price up to keep demand tolerable while they gear up for the Summer 2010 replacement trials. That is the only thing that makes sense to me.

ETA: Just read a post from Magpul stating "I would hold off until official word get (sic) released. This is not what we have been told the base model price was going to be."

Who knows with AR15.com? Could be bored 15yr olds, could be low-level receptionist at Bushmaster,...

Well, they are a part of Cerberus! Shouldn't come of a surprise!

You've heard Cerberus' slogan......'We market inferior products at outstandingly high prices'!
