Ny

Alot depends on the county you're in..upstate rural counties are a breeze..I got my permit in about 6 months..with hunting and target restrictions..took an extra NRA class, wrote a letter to my local judge and got my restrictions off in about 2 weeks..actually spoke to the judge on the phone and he apologised for taking so long....NY city is another story
Also I hear there are some counties where you have to see the sheriff and it's all up to him if you get a permit.I moved from Albany county to Rensslaer county...lots easier in Rens.Alabny makes you go before the judge even for an amendment and it takes a few weeks...in Rens co I can get mine the same day as long as the pistol permit clerk is working.... ;)

Haven't seen it mentioned here, but CT is kinda ok Class IIIwise. 'ceptin' for a little kink in the law that makes select fire arms assault weapons, and therefore illegal. But I could hold a full auto MAC-10 in one hand, and a semi in the other, and that would be fine... :uhoh:

We have porn stars in Kali.

We are probably the biggest firearm market in the U.S. (every new law initiates something like panic buying)

When our gun laws bleed over into your states we won't see the big deal. We've living with it for a while.

(every new law initiates something like panic buying)

ok i stand corrected from my earlier post, if it werent for the new anti gun laws i would not of bought lots of neat stuff

California:

* CCW Permits are basically 'shall issue' in some counties.

* Rifles and shotguns (that aren't 'aws' !!!) are still not controled, registered, or regulated.

* Ammo isn't even locked up at many stores, pretty freely available.

* In theroey at least, ClassIII weapons are legal! (with a seperate DOJ permit, ie takes pull and $$$$$$$$.)

* Surpruising number of shooters.

* I bought 3 .50BMGs before they were banned.

Maryland:
We're not MA or NJ, we're too close to CA to make a difference.
VA is to the south PA is to the north.
Same house and property is about $75k less than 2 miles away in VA.
They actually have a range protection law.

Re:

Illinois:

We can have guns...

True our state needs alot of work but at least we can still have guns...No thanks to king dick and his village idiot rod. But there are always rumblings here. The anti's are rabid here. If king dick would only see that the only way to rid his pathetic city of the violence and crime is to allow ccw in the city, and state. mack

Cjrpc

CJRPC, like a lot of other outdoor ranges, is being encroached by sprawl. Unlike a lot of other ranges, they decided to do something about it, and started buying up surrounding land as it became available.

The other strategy is used by Falls Township R&P: Let a developer buy you out and relocate you to a larger site next to switching yards, cement plants, and the like. The neighbors aren't bothered at all. :D

Any outdoor range that's experiencing sprawl and is not doing one of these should start counting its days. They're numbered.

MA: (in addition to previously mentioned) A lot of clubs and ranges. For that matter, a lot of IPSC and IDPA, in addition to bullseye.

NJ: I don't have to live there any more.

The PRK isn't that bad. I shot a coyote the other day with my neutered CAB-10 while coyote calling. That almost makes me feel good about living here. I ended up getting one more right after we took this picture with the .22-250. Coyote calling is fun and you can do plenty of it here.

CT:
1) rather weird situation where the local PD does the work of running your background check only to make you go to the State PD to get your actual license and the State PD offices that issue the permit are few and not open when most people are off from work.

Still, given the problems that MA and CT (RI, NH and ME too probably), have, it sure is a far sight better than Illinois, NJ and CA. NY too for that matter in that a MA or CT permit is valid through the state. Once you have a permit, you can generally purchase as much as you want without having to get a purchase permit etc.
Doesn't CT still have it's own AWB on the books? That's what I was told awhile after the national AWB expired. A friend wanted to add a flash supressor to a post-ban AR-15, and the gun shop owner first told him he'd see what was available, then a day later he called up and said "Forget it."

From MD

Seems like we are members of the Dirty Dozen or so areas left that don't have a equitable CCW for its residents. Though born in the blackwater swamps of VA, I live and fight for Maryland. I believe our State Police are the nicest. They'll follow you home from gun shows and gun stores every now and then, I think for security.

PS
I am helping the motivated future of the pro-gun world work on a new project and could use some pro gun folks to report what's going on in your state so we can reach young gun owners that are not a part of the RKBA movement. Looking for someone from NYC, DE, CA, RI, WI, NE, IL, NJ, MA, and DC that would like to write a monthly column about the situation in your state. Nothing too lengthy, full of humor and light as we are trying to win "souls" here. If interested, check out www.urbanshooter.com and send me an email. I have to warn you though, they are trying to cultivate the middle ground so they aren't as hardcore and "no compromise" as we are.

New Jersey

When I moved out last month to live in Florida they did let me take my guns with me. Of course I had to lock them up in the trunk. I had prepared ahead of time with a Florida CC License so when I got to Virginia I reached into the trunk and retrieved my S&W Model 640 and placed it in my pocket.

And yes, I will miss Central Jersey Rifle & Pistol Club. Can't find anything like it in Florida.
