The $10 processing fee; $25 fingerprinting fee; and $99 DCJS fee are all one time fees. Once you have your license the State takes a $3.00 fee to add any pistol to your license.
Hope your stomach didn't get too upset.
When is comes to gun ownership in New York State, things are actually pretty good, once you get out of NYC and its suburbs.
New York State does not have any storage requirements. Safe storage is recommended, but not mandated by law. However, keep in mind that liability lawsuits are alive and well.
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Prof. A. Wickwire
As a former resident of upstate NY, NYC, and Hoboken NJ I think Prof hit it on head. Long guns are FTF transfer, no restrictions beyond the awb mentioned earlier. Handgun permits are "may issue". You'll need to find a Rockland county member to give you the details on local difficulty/timeline.
I lived in Wisconsin to avoid Chicago/Illinois gun law stupidity. I live in PA because I did not want to deal with MD's crappy gun climate. I would NEVER choose to live in New Jersey because of their onerous gun laws. I would move back to upstate NY because I had no hassles with guns at any stage, and can afford to buy pre-ban weapons. And the hunting and fishing are pretty good
