CCW in a Kilt

It seems to me that the best argument for OPEN carry is for when wearing a kilt ! At least, it'll keep the snickers at bay...

There are many people in my extended family that, if you laughed at them while they were wearing a kilt, you would be the one needing a weapon for defense. Some of my family took it very seriously.

That said the waistband on my one was plenty tight enough to hold a good holster.

:uhoh:

Never wore a kilt and never will but it seems to me this would be the perfect situation to wear a belly band under your shirt.

:scrutiny:

:D

Ill wear a kilt for the first time when i visit my names ancestry homeland, But not a minute before.

It's not so important that you wear a kilt, but what you wear under it.

If you wear something under it you can no longer call it a kilt... it is a skirt :)

I wear a kilt more than the average guy, and as stated before I wear IWB. I am an athlete/athletics director so I am not in formal garb, so it is easy to conceal.

You know ...

After having worn a kilt before and realizing they are far superior to the more widely accepted pants I'd say one of those thigh holster is a damn good idea.

If you're worried about the chafing, wear some spandex underneath, or the idea of carrying in the little attached satchel isn't' bad either.

If kilts were more accepted I'd wear them regularly in a heartbeat. Good boots and a kilt is about as comfortable as it it comes. And I'm far from Scottish.

My son has several Utilikilts and rarely wears jeans anymore (at 6'4" and built like a football player, he doesn't get picked on often:)). He carries concealed all the time. I don't know if he carries IWB or OWB, because I can't see what he's carrying.

In that case, I'd need to make sure my kilt was long enough to cover my barrel on a windy day.

I think one should make sure their Kilt is long enough to cover their Barrel, regardless.

Which for some, would mean 'mini-kilts' would be a no-go.

All kidding aside, I was in a Pipe Band at one time, and if memory serve, the traditional Scottish Kilts do have a deep or high Waste area, where, an IWB mode, and electing a smaller, slim autoloading Arm such as a m1908 Colt .380, having it entirely behind and within the Waist, so nothing is sticking 'up' or out, at 1:00 Oclock or 5 or 7 Oclock, could probably ride alright and be un-noticable enough.

Bushmaster... you misunderstood me... the old saying goes....

"It's a kilt... If I were wearing anything underneath it, it would be a skirt...."

Hm... Might be practical for an evening dress but seems like a better design would be to have it open in the front so one can actually pull the gun out quickly without having to perform acrobatics.

Don't kilts already have a built-in gun pouch?

First off, the Utilikilt is not a kilt, it is pleated, all be it poorly, Carharts. Kilts come in two variations, the Feileadh Mor or Great Kilt and the Feileadh Beg or Small Kilt. And if you have trouble with chaffing wear the kilt more and suck it up the bleeding will stop. And yes that is me. And if you have ever worn a kilt you would know why a belly band would not work. By the time you got to the weapon you'd be nude. We used to have a guy in the band that carried a Desert Eagle strapped to his thigh. Me I carry bagpipes, that is all the weapon I need.
