As I or my co-worker is getting out the fingerprint kit (looks like a old battered fishing tackle box encrusted in black powder),

Had a "little situation" and the nice officers showed up to get finger prints , take pictures, gather evidence and all.

Plainclothes detectives, one a more seasoned gentleman, the other a really sharp younger lady. Both carried revolvers as duty weapons.

In needing to check something out, I offered the use of a magnifying glass about 4" in diameter. Both officers really liked this magnifying glass , especially the 10x part down at 6 o'clock.

Officers were very understanding, very professional and from time to time called me over to ask questions. I was out of the way trying to deal with the situation and making notes on all the stuff I needed to deal with. "Writing it down" if you will.

I made some coffee and offered them some. These officers accepted and they were really great and conversation was "eased up" to relieve the tension.

I commented on how "tacky" their tackle box was. I mean this thing was pitiful.
"Budget cuts, we were sent out to find our own and I got this one off the bank after the lake receded" :p

Lady officer asked about this magnifying glass, I said "keep it" she resisted but I can be more hard-headed.

"What do you use it for?" They both asked and I shared it come in handy for customers that forget to bring in their glasses - or too vain to admit they need glasses.

Sipping coffee, and sorta obvious about firearms , with a shotgun over "there" and a handgun sitting on a work table over "there".

Yeah I use the Bifocal Weaver when I shoot handguns, since my eyes changed a few years back...
- I replied.

Older Officer cracked up, younger officer cracked up and there I was with my hands pretending to shoot a handgun and "tilting" my head so my bifocals could see front sight. :p

I bought a nice tackle box a few days later, called these officers and presented it them. They declined, I insisted (I do that this well) and the lady said " Oh great, we are used to ours flopping open with the hinges not working, this is going to take some getting used to".

Gentleman commented how he was going to miss the adhesive tape on the handle and a box missing feet on the bottom and not being level .

Now, I'm new to handguns. Just recently bought my first after thinking about it for years. Anyway, in the Permit to Carry class I just took, the instructors submitted that the Horatio Caine stance was a viable stance to keep your pistol close to your body so that it would be harder to be turned around to point at you. I was skeptical but y'all have confirmed that they were probably full of it.

Tony stated that all his shots look like they would hit the ground 3ft infront of Horatio. I think thats been his farthest shot that hes made on target (take for example when he shot the sniper in the back of the head after using cell phone GPS and quantum physics to triangulate the next assasination attempt) since i've been watchin the show.

Lt. Cain usually stands sideways to people he's talking to and turns and tilts his head to look at them. Kinda weird. His shooting form follows suit.

A lot of officers may do that. We are told to blade our body to people we are dealing with for a couple reasons. 1) to place are weapon away from them and 2) to present less of a target (both for weapons and a well place kicked to the groin area)

Well not so much the head tilt....that is all Horatio lol

Has anybody noticed that Ho' never has any physical contact with the BG's? My main complaint, though, is the TOTAL lack of reality when refering to firearms/ballistics/etc. I understand that it's just a TV series, but c'mon, some of us have real life firearm experience.

I hear Walker coming to town and going to take his little shades and pistol away. The LT is about to meet a real cop and get walking papers as a meter maid.:what: This about worst show on TV :barf:

HAH, I had never seen this show. Still haven't, but the seven minutes of Horatio Caine one-liners is hilarious.

I'm right handed/left eye dominant, I probably don't look that different shooting.

Now don't get me wrong,I watch the show every week..but did you ever notice that at the end of anything Cane has to say he either puts on his shades,or walks away??Since I noticed it,it's all I can concentrate on.
I would list all of the things I watch (other than the show) but then no one would ever know what happened during the episode. I love the show but it is WAY too formulaic. Many formulaic shows have done well, but the difference is having a good formula that will stand the test of time.

And +1 on none of us having something else to talk about. I thought about mentioning Glocks and 1911's in the same sentence so that everyone would get distracted from CSI-talk on THR. Oh wait, I just did.
