Customer service at Ruger

I only needed Ruger customer service one time. They were very responsive. I was sent a prepaid shipping label to send the gun and there was no charge for the repair. I've been enjoying Ruger's for years.

My wifes grandfather worked at ruger as a pistol-smith for almost 30yrs. He absolutely swears by them and loved working at the company, and based on his knowledge of their quality control, would never recommend a revolver to someone other than a Ruger. Any custom work they needed done for display at museums, Texas rangers, or any kind of commemerative pieces, he was the smith on the job, chances are, if you have a Ruger six-gun, and it has the number '7' on the inside of the grip, you have yourself one helluva fine piece that was given extra special attention to detail and workmanship. Not to say any of their other guns are of any lesser quality. He spent a good part of his life devoted to the company, and jumps at the oppurtunity to talk about the degree of quality workmanship and attention to detail the company strives for and achieves by employees who truly care about their products and places at the company. My neighbor, and when I say neighbor, I mean the guy who lives at the end of my 1/4 mile driveway, worked for Ruger also and was also a very proud employee. To me the fact that the employees take as much pride in the products as the owners, really says something about the company, JMO

I recently did the unspeakable and stripped the holes in the top of my receiver on a 10/22. I called Ruger and told them that it was completely my fault and I just wanted to see what they could do. They told me to send it in and they would replace my reciever with a brand new one free of charge. Gotta love it.

It's nice to hear stories like this. The ones that you usually hear about are the horrors

Ruger CS is great! I just sent in my Blackhawk for repair, then a few days later called to check on it. The woman couldn't immediately find it, so she took my number and promised to call me back. About 5 minutes later she called with all the information, what is being done to it, expected time required etc. Extremly helpful. I didn't have to struggle to understand her either. Now this is the way customer service should be. I definately recommend Ruger, not only for thier robust guns, but in the way they handle their customer concerns too. I could bash some others, where they didn't give a damn about me and were upset that I was calling and making them work, but I won't. I'm sure you all know who I'm talking about. As far a Ruger goes - as Tony the Tiger says "They GGRREEAATT!"

I've had good expericence with their customer service as well. To be fair, I've also had very good experiences with Sig and Springfield. Mossberg has frustrated me on more than one occassion.

Ive only used a gun warranty once and it was for a part i over torqued and broke the plastic part. I called CZ and they wanted me to send the gun in, Which i understand their point but i would have bought a used one or a upgraded replacement or buy the part directly from CZ before sending the gun in for a $20 part.
One picture later and they had a new part in the mail to me.

Now comes my sad story that may never be solved anything like the OP's. My Taurus PT1911 has a pretty worn exterior which im proud of due to carrying it a full year. But internally the slide is a mess with excess wear and i had to removed firing pin safety parts as theirs don't match 1911 standard parts. Meaning you cant mix standard and Taurus 1911 slide parts.
Extractor was replaced by me as it was beat and peened to hell.
I have my firing pin plunger hole worn threw by the ejector so now its a 3/4 moon shaped hole i smoothed out so nothing would snag it.

Wanna bet i wished Ruger made a 1911? lol
Who knows what will happen to my gun, But i can say most likley it will run many more 1000's of rounds with proper maintenance and no series 90 safeties.

That reminds me i need to call them and see what they will do since i wont be carrying the gun until this fall. That gives them 3 months which should be easy as the whole slide needs replaced.

Boy am i screwed!

But I do own a Ruger MKIII 22/45 ive modded out that never misses a beat. Very rugged high quality gun right there.

(Edit) Just called Taurus and they want me to pay shipping for the whole gun. Guess ill have to fine and easy route and FFL that will ship it cheap for me threw USPS.

Yes they did a full blue. I did not know anything about the dropping of the CCH. I had requested a full blue.

All of the posts here illustrate a principle I spent decades espousing at a major OEM. Salesmanship gets the first sale, service gets all the rest !! Or, to look at it from a P/L POV, it generally costs at least three times as much to get a new customer order as it does to get a reorder from a statisfied customer.....

Seems someone at Ruger has taken this axiom to heart !! >MW
