Dear Gun Control Democrats

That was a great piece of writing.

Gun control ideas are mostly built off of lies. When we were in the middle of the last anti gun movement I admit I was concerned. I even suggested that we start lying and throwing around skewed stats as well. However, after the results of the vote in the Senate I have to believe that the good fight we have been waging gave us good results.

Also, I honestly believe that most anti gun politicians know the difference between crap and apple butter. Some of them don't such as McCarthey, but when Bloomberg says you just hold down the trigger and go. He knows that isn't true. However, he knows that your average person doesn't and that will stick in their heads. These are propaganda tactics and the people using them know what they are doing.

Thanks, Pablo. She says many of the things I have been thinking far more clearly and succinctly than I could. In particular the contradictory messages sent by politicians regarding their desire to ban guns and the profound ignorance of some legislators who would craft legislation regulating guns.

Pretty good recap of the pro-gun argument. But, in the context of the title -- "Dear Gun Control Democrats: 6 Ways to Make a Better Argument" -- it's classic "concern trolling." (Not what it purports to be.) Bad when the other side does it, good when our side does it?

The left uses these tactics because they work on the uninformed public. I don't see them changing.

Wish I had her email, so I could write her a thank you. I do always reprimand my fellow friends refer to the antis as Democrats, and that's not true. We need all the friends we can get, and don't be fooled that every republican is against gun control. Essentially, if you're on this board, you're all right in my book. (Except flamers and trolls, of course :))

 Please... you can't go calling yourself a "liberal" just because you believe in LIBERTIES...

:scrutiny: ... or can you? Is it possible that even a :what: NON-Republican recognizes politically motivated BS when they hear it?

This makes too much sense... I need to lie down now.

Great article, apparently written by that rarest of political animals in the USA: a truly liberal leftist. Most of the American left are just fascists who turned in the brown shirt for pastels.

Not sure what the point of the article is though. if you take away those 6 points from the current iteration of the gun control argument...what's left?

also, I fully wish article writers would post links supporting claims like this
Fortunately for America, the FBI says that citizens of all ages are literally more likely to be struck by lightning than to be killed with a rifle of any kind – not just “assault” rifles.
It would probably help their credibility, and i dont doubt their credibility, but when I try and explain this to people they refuse to believe it because of lack of links to direct sources. Ugh.

EDIT: nevermind. i figured it out. I feel so much smarter.

That was well done. That Feinstein quote is still taken out of context though. But other than that the points made were excellent.

Maybe I'm being repetitive, but if the 2nd Amendment supporters get fraction of the liberals, a hunk of moderates, and the new and growing libertarians, gun control will be stopped in it's tracks.

Maybe there is hope for this country after all. I wonder if the author of the article will still vote for anti-gun Dems over Republicans or independents?

The Jim Crow Southern Democrats and the pre-totalitarian statists had a baby, and it is the modern gun-control movement. It disproportionately affects the urban poor and minorities. It is the opposite of "power to the people."

We shouldn't be amazed that one left-leaning blogger "gets it"; we should wonder why more on the left don't.
