Just a point of interest: I have spent my whole life around academic institutions where the general populace skews slightly to the left of Susan Sarandon and Alan Alda. Aside from my friends in LE and .MIL, and the folks I've met specifically through shooting/training, most of my social network is pretty darn liberal as a result of environment. (I'm basically skewing slightly left and *overtly* libertarian whenever I take some sort of test, myself).
I know a ton of waaaaay lefties who own guns. And not just Fudd guns, but ARs and XDs; the blacker, the better. One of my favorite shooting buddies has a left wing talk show, for pete's sake (though he's pro2A on the show; can't defend civil rights with a sharp piece of wood very well). Believe it or not, western state universities are filled with gun owners, and they are largely voters, and affluent enough to donate. (They can also read well, which is why if we put the stats on guns, crime, violence and control in front of them enough times, they will eventually form the rational opinion-we've seen a bit of that phenomenon in the MSM, thanks in parts to idiots like Piers on the other side).
Now, this is not to be confused with--or be read as an endorsement of--the democratic party platform, in any way shape or form, of course.
But since when has either party done a particularly good job of representing their constituents, save for a few examples of when the politico's own self interests happen to intersect with the people's?
Point is, stand together, or hang separately.
/end of a very rare political rant from this member. Back to 9mm vs. .45 ammo availability...
