Did you ever buy ammo and accessories for a gun you don't own?

Lol, I used to have an LCP, but traded it away. I knew I wanted another one, so I bought a horsehide pocket holster from Galco and stocked up on .380 ammo. I'm actually glad I waited though since I was able to pick one up with the "new and improved" sights and actually have ammo to shoot!!

Similar threads have run before. A lot of posters admit to buying accessories, ammo, and reloading supplies for a gun they will someday own but do not yet have.

I'm one of them.

On some guns I've bought spare magazines before I got the gun. Usually finding the mags was more difficult than the gun and I didn't want to end up with a gun and no spare mags.

Bought a repro M1917 bayonet, figuring I'd get a Norinco M1897 some day. Copy bayo for a copy gun.

Got to fondle a trench gun at a Paine Field airshow display a while back. Gal running the display claimed all the guns were original. Didn't have the heart to show her the "Norinco" stamp on the shotgun.

Bought all kinds of stuff for a Sig P556 years before owning one. Finally got one. Put all the stuff on it. Shot it 3 times, and didn't like it.

Traded it a week ago.

This spring I and many others in CO were forced to think about "What might I want to own but be unable to get after July?"

I bought 6 boxes of 8mm Mauser ammo at an auction because it was going cheap. A few years later I bought a rifle advertised as chambered in 8mm but it turned out to be a 7mm...._

I haven't yet, but I plan to pick up a couple of boxes of 9mm ammo (when it becomes available) before I buy a 9mm pistol later this year or next. This way I'll know I'll have something to shoot.

I was shopping for a deep-conceal pistol in .32ACP about two years ago. I knew I'd get one, and that, when I did, I'd want to head straight out and try it out. I bought two boxes of WWB ammo in that caliber, then ordered a P32. When it arrived a week later, I was ready for the range, and went straight from the gun shop.

So far, that's the only time I've done that.

Indeed. In 2011 I placed a large order with SGAmmo. Besides what I bought that I could use, I bought 500 rounds of XM193 for $150, got the AR in Dec 2012. 10 rounds of .50 in hopes of going to the range and seeing someone with a rifle who may let me shoot it. 200 rounds of .38 special.

I did that yesterday as a matter of fact. Went in to pick up my AR lower and since I feel like I am abusing my LGS’s generosity by taking advantage of his free transfers if I don’t buy something while I am in there I picked up a box of 35 Remington for the Marlin lever rifle that I have been looking for but have yet to find at a price I am willing to pay.

Not on purpose... anyone have a 38 super? I don't, but somehow got 2 boxes of Federal...it must have been next to the 38 Special i was actually reaching for.

Yes sir picked up a box of 45 colt ammo for 15 bucks from an older lady I know I couldn't pass it up

I used to pick up any H&K P7M8 mags if they were decent price (under $40) but I didn't have a P7M8 at the time but I knew I would get one one day. When I finally got the pistol years later I got a real good price for it because guy only had one mag for it... I had about 20 mags in the drawer waiting for the pistol.

Same with H&K P8M13 mags. I used to pick them up for $50 or less. When I finally had the chance to buy one I realized it didn't fit my hand and the grip was terrible. Now I have about a dozen mags sitting in the drawer. Have you seen the price of these mags lately?

I picked up couple of Styr GB mags because I know one day I'm going to buy the pistol.

I have a few boxes of .44 mag and a bandolier holster for a Ruger Redhawk. Had them for several months now. Hoping to have the gun before deer hunting season. :D

I also bought a bunch of 9mm ammo long before I bought my first 9mm gun. That worked out pretty well eventually.

Haha...I don't feel so bad now..:D

I'm getting interested in .338 Lapua Magnum and have been buying the bra$$ and other reloading components.

Also saving $ for a Nightforce...dropping hints to the wife etc......

Be well
Bob

I'm all ready to load .45-70, have everything but the rifle. I did the same thing with 6.5mm Japanese. Took me almost a year to complete the set.

@ the time of the Clinton AWB I bought a bunch of magazines. I still do not have guns for all of them.
