Do we have a Hi-Power Club?

Count me in now!

Just purchased my first BHP yesterday. A LNIB Mark III in 9mm. I was very impressed with the accuracy. I have 2 1911's, and just had to have another example of John Browning's design.

I wouldn't consider the trigger reach on the High Power to be long, but I suppose it's like any other aspect when you are talking about fit, a variable and personal thing. Looking at them side by side it might be a little longer than my RIA 1911, but only by a skosh. But I have fairly large hands so there you go.

High Power

Check out randgfirearms for some outstanding custom H/P's for sale. 1911's too.

Bump

We don't want the BHP Club sinking into the abyss, so here's a bump.

This morning I did something I've wanted to do for a long -- remove the dang magazine disconnect from my BHP Practical. I used the instructions I found in this thread over at the 1911 Forum.

Removing the trigger pin was pretty easy. Driving out the pin which held in the mag disconnect was harder. It was really in there. But a proper application of force (AKA beating the snot out of it) with a punch and hammer popped it out.

The trigger pull is MUCH better now. It's a bit lighter but more importantly, has almost no creep. Big, big improvement. I'm really looking forward to shooting it now.

Me too!

I have a FN Hi Power in .40S&W that I thoroughly enjoy. It is without question one of my most accurate pistols.

Thinking about having it NP3'ed, adding smooth grips and target sights.

I have a few Hi-Power 13 round mags where the polymer follower is chewed or dinged or dented (call it what you want) from the slide stop. Yesterday, the first one failed in that it didn't lift the slide stop. Where can I get replacement polymer followers? The mags are original Browning and are otherwise keepers.

I just checked e-gun parts, they only catalog complete magazines.

The Roll call had been updated, sorry guys I can't check in on weekends right now let's keep this going though.
10X not sure what to say on Magazine parts.

Following the advice offered here as to my inquiry about a long trigger reach for the FN HP, I went back to the shop today for another look. I picked up a brand new FN Hi Power Mk III and it was perfect. I have no idea what the problem was when I picked it up the first time. Maybe I confused it with two Argentine FMs that were right next to it.

I've got to say that my FN is a beautifully executed gun. I can't wait to shoot it. A true classic.

Thanks for the advice!

Thanks Marshall. I have no idea why I was having trouble with the trigger reach. Those Argentine FMs really aren't any different and I also held the FN HP that I ended up buying and had the same problem. Weird. Maybe I was subconsciously trying to talk myself out of the HP so that I could buy the Ruger P90 that I went home with that day  I did a heck of a job because that HP fits my hand beautifully. I've also ordered a couple pairs of grips for it from ebay, a pair of the newer factory contoured grips and a pair of canarywood checker grips with thumb rests. I'll see which I like best.

I can finally say... add me to the list!

I plunked down the credit card today on a LNIB Browning Hi-Power Practical in 9mm that was listed on GunsAmerica. It will be here in a couple days. Hopefully in time for the weekend.

I want in the club

I have had 2 brand new FEG PJK 9HP's in the past and have come full circle. I acquired a used FEG PJK 9HP in December and bought a brand new Charles Daly HP in January. They are wonderful. I have put custom grips on the CD and both shoot great. However, the Charles Daly HP is the best shooting handgun I have ever owned. It is super accurate at the range I tested it at which is around 15 to 18 yards. It shot a ragged hole first time out. I have not shot it since. I am impressed and love the looks and feel of the all steele high powers. The triggers on both are good, the CD is exceptionally well with no grit and a low # pull weight of around 4 or 5 #. I have not removed the mag safety in either one of them and don't plan to as well as they are shooting. I have settled for now on the High Power as my all time favorite and never plan to part with either one, but add to. I am even so impressed with the CD that Im thinking of getting another one. The one I got does not have the huge billboard yellow colored sign on the side either. Put me in the club

Do we get nametags? Decoder rings?

F.E.G. PJK-9HP and a Browning MKIII... for now. I'm sure the family will grow.

Only 1 so far.

I love it!

Here's the canarywood grips. The ebay seller is barsony714. The raised thumbrest really appeals to me. I also think that the wood will look really good with the black finish of the gun. BTW, the grips were $28 total with shipping which seemed reasonable to me. Hopefully the quality will be up to expectations.
