Do you ever show your CCW when asked for photo ID?

Only at my bank, that insists on 2 photo IDs. One teller informed, "We don't accept those", followed by the branch manager who smiled, showing me his own MCPL, stating, "Sure we do!"

Sounded to me, like personal bias by an anti. Other than that situation, no, I don't.

When buying beer at the grocery store. "Here's my guaranteed to be over 21 ID since you can't even get one if you're younger than that.", is almost always met with a chuckle around here.

That's funny. Since I have been over 21 for a good while, when I was renewing my drivers license I chatted with this young lady that was also renewing her's.... it didn't expire for a couple years and I wondered why? She told me there is a red outline around the picture if the license is granted when you are under 21. She wanted to avoid the hassle of always having to explain that they look at the birth date, not the picture...

Nope....AZ doesn't put a photo on their CCW. Actually, you don't need a CCW any longer but since there are a few perks that come with having one so I keep mine current.

No photo on Indiana LTCH either.

Indiana is my birth state...is the LTCH still a pink slip, or did they finally get around to issuing something a little bit more modern and robust since the days when I was still an Indiana Resident?

My SC CCW is virtually identical to my SC DL. Same photograph, same layout, same information format. Minor changes such as the SLED watermark and such, but that's about it.

The only place I've used it has been in a VA gun shop as a method of identification for FFL transfers. Two forms of ID which completely match, and since it's a gun shop I'm not concerned about anybody knowing I'm licensed to carry or may have a firearm with me.

No. I didn't get an Ohio CHL for ID purposes.

The only person who actually needs to see it is a police officer if I am pulled over, and only if I am carrying at that time.

I did one time at the Walmart pharmacy (buying Sudafed) because I didn't want to give them my driver's license which had my SSN on it at the time. The old biddy freaked out and I was escorted out by four cops. I never mentioned firearm and was not armed at the time.

And, if you look carefully on your SS card, it clearly states that it is NOT to be used for "identification purposes."

So, back in the 70s, guess what was my student ID number. Yup, tha's right! :cuss::banghead:

I've done so twice: once when a bank wanted a second ID and my NMSU faculty ID card wasn't good enough (moments later it turned out a credit card would have worked -- how can a credit card be an ID?), and once when buying a firearm and it turned out my driver's license was expired.

I have used it a few times, namely when I needed a second form of ID. I did not have a passport at the time, nor any other form of State/Federal issued ID. There was only one time that anyone said anything about it, and that was a RABID ANTI from Wyoming (I still have not figured that one out and it has been close to 10 years).

Right now I have my DL, Carry permit, and my U.S. Military issued ID card (civilian contractor not Military ID) on my person pretty much all the time. I did have to use all three one time when the stupid clerk at the store required three forms of ID to open an account with them. She did not want to accept the military ID even though it clearly states US Government property, my name, picture and everyone in the area knows that the base is the main source of employment in the county. She even had doubts about taking my GA carry permit as it was not a "state issued ID." I was not about to go home and find my passport and bring it in for a $15 savings, and when the supervisor saw what I presented he told her to accept all three and never question any of them again unless they were expired.

In the 70's, eh?

Purdue University used student's social security number as their ID number into the 2000's

Huh!

I don't remember them using my SSN for my student ID way back when I was a Purdue student. I wonder if I've still got one of them laying around in a box somewhere...if so, I ought to dig it up and either secure it better or destroy it.

I don't think it's the best idea. The whole point of CCW is so nobody knows. I certainly wouldn't use it at a hotel as if be afraid the employes would be trying to snoop through my room when I wasn't there.

Only way I would use it is if my DL was lost.

We just loved penciling our SSN onto the scantron for all of the exams

The decades seem to scrub such details away...

To be sure, the SSN wasn't nearly the concern back when I was at Purdue, for the simple fact that the internet hadn't yet come about to compound the issues with the widespread availability of much Personally Identifiable Information.

Heck, nowadays I'm concerned about my name, address, and phone number being known...and back then we all lived for the day the new phone book showed up and was personally thrilled the day our own name, address, and phone number was listed for the first time.

;)

i was buying beer one night on base and the picture on the back of my id is partially over my bate of birth so she asked if i had another ID, so i pulled my CPL out since it was next in line she just gave me an odd look and checked the date

I showed mine at the voting precinct last Nov. when asked for ID. The lady only said that it was the first time she'd seen one of those.

I use my IL FOID for ID whenever I'm offered the opportunity. Usually gets some interesting gun-related conversations going with strangers.

The Social Security Administration recommends that you NOT carry your card with you.

Only at my bank, that insists on 2 photo IDs.

What second photo ID do people have? My CHL and DL are the only photo IDs that I have.

Every uniformed police officer longs for the day when he becomes a detective so that he can take the target off his back. I did once but never again.

I did once by accident,,,

At my Credit Union I once handed them my CWL by accident,,,
By the look on the tellers face you would have thought I placed a pile of feces on the counter.

She refused to touch it and said "We don't accept that for ID.",,,
It wasn't what she said that irked me but how she said it,,,
There was actual disdain in her voice and on her face.

I said, "Please get a manager out here."

The manager gave me the "Our policy is..." speech,,,
I gave her the "This is a state issued identification..." speech.

When she refused to accept it and said it's a driver's license or nothing,,,
I told her to cancel my savings and checking accounts "right now".

"Now Mr. Graham, this isn't at all necessary" she stated,,,
I replied with "I passed an extensive background investigation to get this permit.",,,
"I will not continue to do business where I am treated with overt disdain by a prissy teenaged teller.

The "real" manager came out then to see what the problem was,,,
He apologized to me and assured me that my CWL was acceptable ID.

I never raised my voice or cursed at the teller and faux manager,,,
And some people would say I over reacted to the snub,,,
But I felt I acted quite appropriately.

I still bank there as I have my mortgage through them,,,
I received a letter assuring me it wouldn't again.
