Do you know a pro gun cop?

I live in the Bay Area California. The cops I know are pro gun -just as long as they are in the hands of law-abiding citizens. The Tactical officers I have the privilege to train with are very pro-gun ownership.

One of my closest friends is a pro-gun LEO. Gave her one of mine for her BUG. She has organized a few "shoots" with fellow LEOs where I provided the firearms.

Yes, a fellow I went to high school with is a cop/SWAT guy and is very in favor of 2A rights for civilians.

There; one more for the stack.

My brother is a cop and pro-gun back in PA. He gave his wife a diamond ring for mother's day as he told her that he was getting an AR.

Of the half dozen departments in my area, only a couple either don't like guns that much or don't really care. Welcome to the UP. 80% of homes have at least one firearm.

Friend of mine has been a cop for many years and is very pro-gun (in Illinois too!). He's looking to sell some guns though so I just have to get some cash handy. :(

I know a few that are, I also know a few that are not...

One of the ones that does not beleave people should own a gun as they are not trained... clamed right up when I asked him how many hours of "professional" firearms training he has had in his career...

Lets just say he was not too happy when I told him I had more hours of instruction that year then he has had in 8... well lets just say we have not talked about firearms since then.

i hate to say it but blackfork is totally right on this one.

i personally know tons of LEOs that love guns and are shooters and "pro 2A" (from secret service, sheriff deputies, police, TBI, park rangers, etc)

however, none of them think our rights are more important than their safety. and i very much doubt any would disobey an unconstitutional order

Heavens, yes. Our neighbor across the street. One of our good friends at church. If you count retired cops, one of the range officers at the range I shoot at. The guy at our church and I like discussing our various ccw's, and which ranges we shoot at.

I'd be much harder pressed to find any anti cops.

I encounter many LEOs through my job. One afternoon a couple of months ago, one LEO overheard me talking about going to the range, and he confronted me about carrying ... :uhoh:

Or, I should say, about NOT carrying!

He ended up giving me a friendly lecture about the ease of concealability his Kel-Tec and how it was definitely in my best interest to always carry. I've had nothing but positive, pro-gun encounters when talking guns with my LEO friends.

Never read any of the replies...but...

VERY pro gun..except for a felon or poss in the prescence of a cds..of course....other than that. i think most "cops" are pro gun though.....

I've met several. My impression has always been that most cops are pro-2A, but the higher up in rank they go the more pressure is put on them to be politically correct. And when it comes to the chiefs, they are more politician than cop.

I went to an anti-gun rally in the Daley Center in downtown Chicago once (I was with the pro-2A protesters, and we outnumbered the anti-2A protesters), and the cops were all very friendly and sympathetic to our cause. Of course they did their jobs and kept us away from the cameras so the news could show the "huge" anti-gun protest on TV that night, and pretend it was a great success. :barf:

No.

Cops hate guns.

Cops don't like guns, don't know how to clean or maintain them, never go to the range voluntarily, and cannot shoot accurately.

Plus, cops are likely to leave their guns in restroom stalls or on the sinks, or have negligent discharges in the station when holstering or when attempting to teach firearms safety to a classroom full of youngsters.

Finally, cops always give lawfully packing citizens a hard time about guns when they pull them over for speeding.

For gosh sakes, man, don't you ever read anything on the internet gun forums?

I know a future cop who is totally pro-2A. Always comes to me for pointers and heads up information on firearm matters.

Anyone personally know a pro gun cop? I'm not talking someone that is indifferent. I am talking the 'Molon Labe' types. The THR junkie, NRA bumper sticker, .45 over 9mm all day types. I personally don't know any. I know an antigun cop though.

Yeah. Me.

Come on... You must have read enough of these threads to know that there are quite a few of us LE types on this site. So, you already know we exist!

But, if me counting myself isn't enough:

1) My brother
2) My grandfather
3) My uncle
4) At least half of my shift; and I shoot regularly off-duty with a number of them.

I'd say that there are more pro-gun cops than anti-gun cops. The anti gun folks in police departments are usually the brass. Us street grunts don't get much face time in front of the news camera (which is a good thing, in many ways).

I will read the entire thread in a bit here.

Yes, I know several pro gun deputies and a former Chief Deputy who are PRO GUN for ALL people. Those ones that I just mentioned were super close friends of mine back east. They are still VERY close to me - the retired ones. East coast and farm/lake country. Their children are in police work and in emt work. I know some police who are NOT pro gun too. Same as with the lying anti gun RINO and Dem GOVS and other politicos! Good and bad in all people and in ALL professions.

The same goes for military although the military that I PERSONALLY knew and KNOW, including my late husband, were VERY PRO GUN for ALL people - some would call them 'extremists' in the RKBA movement. Grin. I am considered an RKBA extremist by many people on and off gun and political boards even though I OBEY all of the stupid, wrong and not Constitutional laws! God bless those REAL RKBA military people!

I do think that some of the public fool educated folks along with SOME, not all, police and military people would NOT think TWICE about 'following orders' in disarming Americans and/or anyone else when it comes to the NWO R and NWO D powers that be. PAST, present and future government orders in disarming citizens and in any other ORDER that 'they' may order according to those laws and in WHO THEY THINK may be subversive or a GUN NUT! All anyone has to do is read some of the actual Fed websites and even what the FBI considers subversive NOT counting the Patriot Acts which are NOT patriotic since they ignore and shred so many things!

Example below:

Guns, talks about guns and ammunition, talks about the SECOND AMENDMENT, the Constitution and other issues like that including HISTORY, Bible, religious folk in Any religion including Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc., home schoolers, some 'loners' aka not social butterflies, ones who even dare to believe in private property RIGHTS, questions authority including the USA's wrong foreign and national policies, is in any militia, is in any PRO GUN or any PRO FREEDOM movement, is against any ANTI NWO DEAL, is anti the U.N., anti ILLEGAL aliens and the companies that hire them, anti amnesty for illegal aliens - NOT legal immigrants, stocks up on ammo, guns, food, water and talks about taking care of his/her own, etc. is considered SUBVERSIVE to some authority figures including ones in ANY level of government.

I think that HIRED help like Blackwater and other security folks will Follow Orders in disarming folks in any so called false flag alert or in martial law or in any other so called "situation" because after all it is FOR the people's security and THEY know what it best for you, your loved ones, etc. Ha ha! NOT!

Many younger folks don't understand or know their history too. NOT all of them but they don't know it as the older ones forget or IGNORE history on disarming citizens HERE and in any other country worldwide!

Here's to the good military and police folks and take care!

First I will post this quote... I use 9mm because regardless of caliber, if it's worth shooting once, it's worth shooting twice. One shot drops are a myth. I'll take more rounds in the mag any day. From a previous poster.

Now that is exactly how I feel, hence the Glock 19, CCW Carry, and Armed Security carry.

Back to post, yes, my best Friend, he just retired after 28 years, we shoot IDPA together, and range visits, in my 25 years as a Firearms Instructor, met 100s... Now about that .45 Vs 9mm again!

i know 5 miss. state troopers, my best friend is a city policeman, and know several of the deputies in my county. ( i work with the fire dept.) so i deal occasionaly with leo's. the ones i know, and know of are pro gun. mississippi is pretty good about folks owning and carrying. except for the 120 day wait period on ccw. that stinks.

Sure, I've known a few anti-gun cops over the years. They were in the extreme minority in my experience and tended to percolate to the top like you-know-what. They get press from that position but the guys on the road doing the work often hold diametrically different views than the fearless leaders.

Dead on the money.

There's a gradual change as you move up the chain where you tend to become less like a police officer and more like a politician.

I'm a cop and I'm VERY pro-gun, Pro 2nd A
My Chief and the other officers are, as well.

If pro-gun means that person is not against gun ownership and laws restricting said, ownership, I know quite a few, I am sure.

If pro-gun means they actively pursue shooting as a hobby, I know a few for sure, but probably know less than there are around here.

I have one friend who is a state cop with an issue M-16 Commando. Once we got enough loose rounds together, we took it and my underfolder AK to a local national forest rifle range and ran off a few folks shooting full-auto from the hip. I'd say he's fairly pro-gun. :neener:

I forgot to add, the local range is run by an ex state cop who is the only person more "in to" guns than I am. I can waste lots of time chit-chatting with him.

i don't know any pro gun cops personally (i guess i don't know any cops personally period), but i have met and talked to cops that support gun ownership and have told me that they honestly can't be everywhere at once and it is important for one to be able to protect oneself.
