Does your perfect carry gun exist? If so, do you have it?

No. I have two that make up a compromise. Glock 26 and a Kahr CM9.

If Glock made their version of a Kahr CM9 it would make it so I had two perfect carry guns.
I started with a glock 19, it was too big to carry. Then 26, too big also. Then found the kahr CM9. LGS recommended the sticky holster so I got that.

CM9 is perfect, but the sticky holster was a revelation. I got a sticky for the 26 and it turns out I can carry the 26 without any problems with the sticky holster.

I still carry the CM9 because I love the light weight and the thickness. But the 26 is a close second. The one thing I wish is that the sticky holster came with a mag pouch so I could more easily carry a spare mag. I use the 7 round mag and I would love to carry 14.

i bought a glock 42 but dont like it that much. I definitely want a single stack 9 glock.

Smith and Wesson made a 3 inch version of the 29 and 629 that I would die for , however the cash price is out of range for me now, an astra terminator would satiate my hunger though.

Well, mine didn't exist at the time, so had this one made up, but then Ruger came out with a similar gun, a .44 special Blackhawk:

I've carried this nearly everday for about four years now.

So far in my life (only had my chl for a year or so) I've carried an Sr9c, c775c, LC9, P3AT, LCP, and a ruger Sp101.

The mouse guns are now right out for me... Their purpose, in my opinion, is nothing more than a BUG. Better than a pointy stick, But not by much, lol. The SR9C was a faithful companion. It was very comfortable, and never pulled my pants down. The CZ75c is a steel framed gun, so its a bit heavier, as well as carrying 4 more bullets. I prefer the cz to the sr9c, but they're pretty close in my opinion. The CZ is far more reliable though, and is really an excellent combat weapon. If **** hit the fan, I'm really, REALLY confident with it.

But I gotta say, the SP101, despite having a meager 5rd capacity, is PERFECT for me. I just love the damned thing. Its brushed stainless and after about 2 months of carrying daily, usually without a holster, the finish is still in excellent shape, and I dont think its going to wear quickly. Speed strips make caring more rounds a breeze. For me the SP101 snub nose is indeed a perfect CCW

I often carry a snubbie with just five rounds on board; I don't think you're necessarily undergunned if you train and know how to use those five shots.

My gun has all the features I want and looked for. Taurus PT709
The brand is not popular I know but it does everything I want and it IS reliable:)
1. It is small enough to carry with very few clothes on.
2. It is one of the thinnest 9mmP handguns you can buy.
3. It has an external safety ( I want this because I sometimes just slip it in a pocket while at home)
4. Its got adjustable sights.
5. First shot is DA, then it shoots the rest in SA ( I assemble it with a round in the pipe, I have seen this on youtube, tested it extensively, and I am happy with this) So therefore the firing pin spring is always at rest. I prefer it like this.
6. More than accurate enough at SD distances for a pocket pistol.

One thing I would change about it is I would have liked it to weigh a bit more. Weight does not bother me when carrying it, but more weight would have meant less recoil and faster follow-up shots.

I could not have made a better choice.

Yes x 2.

Since taking that pic, I have added an inner tube cover to the grip and changed the trigger.

I have been carrying it since when I bought it NIB in 2007. A couple of years ago I replaced the trigger with a Northwood and now it is a pleasure to shoot. With a MIC, it is even easy to carry concealed while wearing a tee-shirt over my 501s or cut-offs.

Loaded (7+1), it tips the scale at only ~18½oz.

Around the house/yard/farm I currently always carry my 3.3XDs45 but soon expect to add my G30S and G19 to that duty.

If I could find the parts needed to shoot 9mm and/or 357Sig out of my P99, then yes I would have the perfect firearm.

Another vote here for the humble J-frame S&W. I comfortably pocket carry my 642 Airweight .38, in everything from khakis to blue jeans to gym shorts.
Sure, it ain't as sexy-cool as most semi-autos, but it costs a lot less than most of them, it's reliability is second to none, and 5 rounds of +P Gold Dots ain't nothing to sneeze at.

Yep, my USP9. :)

The perfect carry gun has existed since JMB designed the M1911 in .45ACP.

I have two and they are my normal carry guns. One a full-size M1911A12 in .45ACP by Springfield Armory and the other a nickel Colt Combat Commander.

Powerful, concealable with an adequate round count in a magazine. Quick to reload, accurate and reliable.

I do not know what more the average person could want or need.

Ahhh ... a nickel Colt Combat Commander ... niiiiice handgun. I carried one in the late '70s for a couple of years under my suit/sports coats in a Roy's Leather Goods pancake holster ...

... but I found it to be just a bit too heavy & bulky for my taste/purpose so I (unfortunately) sold it to buy another Walther PP which I found, for that time, to be close to my perfect carry piece.

When the SHTF, whether its a bear or bad guys, there is a perfect handgun to stop the deadly threat: the S&W 44 Mag.

Pictured below a 4" S&W 29 .44Mag, with a 3" S&W 13 .357Mag, (which others consider the perfect handgun), however large hands here prefer the 44.

It's all about being happy with ones self. Guns may come and go, and your tastes will change as you acquire more knowledge and experience, what looked perfect yesterday may not tomorrow, and vice versa. Just be happy with your informed choice, life is too short to concern yourself with perfection, as there is no such gun or anything else that was made by man.

I have lots of perfect carry guns. Many factors effect what one I do carry though, my world isn't a "one size fits all" and trade offs are made. What is perfect for one thing might be far from perfect for another.

Back in the days when I had a job, my concealed carry gun for many years was a SIG P239 in .40 S&W. I carried it inside my waistband when I wore a jacket or an untucked shirt (although I can't really remember dressing like that), and I carried it on my ankle more often.

That gun is totally reliable.

It shoots an excellent cartridge, and holds an adequate capacity.

It is very accurate and easy to shoot well.

It is easy to carry and easy to conceal.

Now that I don't work for a living any more, I wear shorts and a t-shirt 96.6% of the time, and concealment is more of a challenge. I now carry a S&W Centennial (340PD, 640, or 642) in a pocket holster.

The hammerless J-frame loaded with .38 Special +P is a snag-proof, easy-to-present revolver. I consider it adequate for being a private citizen doing private citizen things. If I were still going out looking for trouble (for a living!), it wouldn't do.

I have to have multiple pistols. Otherwise I'm compromising performance. It depends how good you want to be. Nothing is perfect all the time.

-day time and night time sights. Heck, I have pistols with dawn and dusk sights as well. To have perfect sights all the time, I'd have to switch pistols 4 times a day.

-attire, weather. Winter carry is different than summer carry.

-the job at hand. Camping/kayaking carry is going to be different than going to Gotham city. A night out is going to require different choices than a weekend on the road.

My Glock 23 is my favorite overall day pistol so far. Comp sights. FO front, plain rear. I'll be making a nightime based one as well out of a G27. It does anything as well as any of my other pistols. Just sucks to reholster and handle. Safety and adaptability is a concern. When it comes out, it ain't going back in.

My Dan Wesson Valor 1911 is my favorite daytime fullsize. Fixed comp sights like the Glock. The weight helps it shoot true. It's also my safest pistol. The 1911 has it's place still. It's not too heavy at all. Get better belts and holsters. I don't wear it to the beach obviously. Around the yard, or anywhere my rifle goes. Still a good carry in the winter and where max concealment is not a worry. My preferred home d and bug out, still. Best trigger of all time still counts for much IMO.

Dan Wesson CCO/ECO. Smaller 1911's setup for night use. Once again, safety is a concern. The 1911, cocked and locked is my safest form of carry, sometimes I'll grab these based on that fact alone. These are useful everywhere, and setup to be more well rounded than my others. Giving up a hair of sighted performance, to have slower night sights.

My deep concealment Kahr p380, Keltec P32, P380 etc. etc........are knifes. Mouseguns don't count as "bringing a gun, to a gun fight". Pathetic shoot ability with these. Anything under 3" and 9mm is what I consider unarmed. It's better than nothing, but it's a patheticly useless firearm in my experience. And are they effectively accurate enough to use in an urban environment? Nope, not really.

The deep concealment pistols and J frames, just tested poorly in my hands. Yeah, they're guns. Yeah, they might work against thugs, knifes, and hardly armed gangs of cowards and idiots. But I'm dead as a duck, in a real gun fight with one. Use the last round in a J frame for myself.

Perfect carry gun has these characteristics:

Available in a caliber I want
Affordable
Reliable
Ergonomic
Night sights available
Crimson Trace laser available

I have a couple of perfect carry guns. The one I spend the most time with is the Kahr P9.

I currently carry a FN Five-Seven MKII. 20+1 rounds, zero recoil, RDS, and depending I have a Green Laser/Light that I may or may not attach.
