Dream revolver

Your posts on that gun is part of what got me thinking about my dream gun again. I’m a huge fan of 32 long but I can’t drop 4k to scratch the itch. I will end up building one off of an old model 10 if I ever get around to it.
Today's pocket carry is a 1929 Colt Pocket Positive chambered in "32 Police CTG" . Seen below with my early to mid 1960s S&W Model 30 chambered in jess plain old 32S&W Long. I'll gladly sell either one to you (or both if you insisted and paid all the shipping and transfer fees) for less than that 4K figure.;)

The colt has the tighter lockup of the two and a 2.5" barrel. I also quite often carry two longer barreled versions, my S&W Hand Ejector and another Pocket Positive but with the 3.5" barrel.

32S&W Long is really an underappreciated cartridge that has similar penetration to the 38S&W Special and is softer shooting and more accurate. Plus you get six rounds rather than just five and much easier blind reloads using speed loaders.

I would love to have a freedom arms model 97 in 45 colt but if my ship comes in I will probably be to old to even hold it. I’m 82

I would really like a commercial .50 Special revolver on a non-ridiculous frame size. A .500 S&W case cut down to "Special" length and popping out a 350 grain LRN at about 750 fps would be well-homed in a Blackhawk. And the same sort of ballistics from a .50 AE would be wonderful if moonclipped into a Redhawk.

A brand new Dan Wesson 15-2 VH 8 in 22 long rifle would suit me just fine. Heck, I would even settle for a nice used one.

I think there is one on GunBroker right now. Someone dumped a huge lot of DW revolvers this week...

For me, it would have to be an L-frame 5- or 6-shot .41MAG... akin to the 696... 4" full lug barrel, smooth trigger, skinny hammer, square butt.

My dream gun? A model 19 thats been worked over by an expert revolver smith. 3" barrel, round butt. Nice, museum grade walnut boot grips. Carry melt and that old school deep blue. Trijicon night sights. Some of CraigC's leather.

2nd choice? A model 66 set up the exact same way.

3rd. Colt King Cobra just the way it is but with a beefier trigger return spring that doesn't break so easy.

The M19 would do nicely thank you.
Here's a Model 19

Not that I really need it, but a stainless Dan Wesson 360 in a "pistol pack" of 3", 6" & 10". Half lug no-rib shrouds for the 6" & 10".

I have the Model 740 (357 Max) and the gun is just tad too bulky / heavy for anything other than IHMSA or maybe hunting from a blind.

Second mention would be a "tuned" stainless Taurus swap cylinder DA with 401 power mag (cases to be made from 30-30), 10mm & 40 cylinders. I would have a hard time deciding on barrel. Probably a half lug 6". The other choice would be a 4.2" (similar to the GP-100 match champion 10mm).

Not in the same class as a "golden ticket" gun, but one that would have me grabbing for my wallet would be a simple aluminum frame 6 shot 3" LCRx in 32 H&R.

An S&W K-32 or Model 16 chambered in 32 SWL will set you back $3k to $3.5 or more.

I’m not sure changing the barrel, cylinder, and adding adjustable sights will be more economical.

Maybe, start with a 32-20 Hand Ejector revolver, replace the cylinder, and add adjustable sights will be more agreeable cost.

I’ve hoped that S&W would make a 32 SWL k-frame in their Classic series. It would be reasonably priced and probably sell out quickly.

I decided to not wait on S&W and bought the Manurhin MR32. Fortunately I could.

.22 Python.

Colt DID actually make few custom jobs from leftover rimfire Trooper and Diamondback parts. They were gifted to retiring execs and pop up once in a blue at auction.

Or, perhaps a 15-shot .22 Ruger Redhawk...or a .22 N-Frame.

Ya, I like big guns shooting little bullets. 🤪
Yep. The 22 python would be mine.

are you serious??? lol
Haha yes actually. The sales rep gave a brief explanation that this would be the cost for developing a new frame large enough to fit the 50 BMG in. I was a young guy a couple years into my first marriage and generally didn't have a lot of extra cash. I had just come into some money from participating in a lengthy medical research study, which at the time I thought was a lot and wanted something unique. Needless to say I didn't go through with it! Golly that had to have been over 15 years ago.

15 years ago, a house cost $350,000 now cost $1,000,000

So, in todays money, that like saying $700,000! WOW!

I have a S&W Model 30 and Model 31. Both shoot small groups of 32 SWL ammunition. The fixed sights were a limiter.

I agree, 32SWL is not given the due it is needed. I feel 32SWL is the reloaders reloadable 22RF.

But marketing and not respecting the office says otherwise.

I'll take a Ruger Blackhawk, call it a Super Blackhawk X frame, slightly larger and able to handle a new cartridge in 50 caliber. The cartridge would be not super high pressure, like a special version of the 500 Special. Blued 4 3/4" barrel with stainless grip frame, AND an auxiliary grip frame in BRASS, both XR3-RED, round trigger guards. I think I'll take it with the richest blueing Turnbull can do, CCH hammer and trigger. Pinned front sight so I can change at will. I'd have steel, gold bead, solid brass Garcia sight, and fiber optic sights. Trigger tuned to 4 pounds. Might as well throw in half a dozen bullet moulds and Simply Rugged Pancake holster in Oxblood, border stamped, and give it a little more shirt guard.

Well, since I'm dreaming, I'll take a Ruger single six bisley with the 4 5/8" barrel, deep blue in 38 spcl waddcutter. It's possible but expensive. And I'd also like a 50 jrh super redhawk with a 6.5" barrel and a super Blackhawk bisley also in 50 jrh with a 4 5/8" barrel. Also possible but expensive. And a functional 1917 s&w with the lanyard loop and holster, in good useable condition for a price I can afford...
