Dream rifle if you had an unlimited budget?

Tricky subject.

Every time I want something bad enought to consider it a dream gun, I save, get it, and a week later I have another gun on the want list.

Currently, I really wan't and am saving for a Marlin 1895 SBL in 45-70. Not overly pricey or hard to find, but I don't want to own anything i'm afraid to shoot. (or have no practical use for.) My gun safe is not a museum.

Mauser action, 300 Win mag, on a slim gloss Brazilian rosewood stock. Top it with a Leopold VXIII 4.5-14x50 B&C and dress it with a real crock skin sling. I think I am drooling :D

my best friend and reloading mentor has a mcbros 50 bmg bolt rifle...... it has to be the coolest gun i ever shot......... the thing looks a model 700 remington on steriods.......... i'd have to have one of those................

Can I just dream for the "unlimited budget" instead? :D

I guess I am a sucker for the past. Mine would be an original hand made piece from Giovanni Beretta.

There would be a few, all big money.

1) Factory HK G36K
2) SCAR-17
3) STG-44
4) AI AWSM 338 Lapua
5) Barrett M82A1

Those are just to start, but about $25k+ right there, minus the G36k which is NA in the US from the factory.

Lumbergh

more modest ambitions than most here
but I would have to at least try a Cooper JSR (Jackson Squirrel Rifle)
unless.. they still did NIB Browning low wall falling blocks (not the last run of "W" branded, but earlier run of Browning labeled) in some small pointy bullet caliber.. or a Browning M92 in 38/357

The 1st production M14 Service rifle. Serial # 2000 with M1 buttplate, and wood handguard. It's current location is at the Springfield Armory National Historic Site Museum.

This should make for a decent rifle, provided that it's drool proof...lol

It is already here-the Service Grade Garand from the CMP.

Provided that somebody donates 8,000 rds. of free ammo, and 40 pumpkins per month, no more requests for a while.

Curse you! I have resisted this thread since its inception! Alas, I fall pray to the evil of firearms-lust, and the allure of the world of "what if"....

Surgeon action w/ integrated 20 MOA rail
AI stock
AI bottom metal
AI 10-round magazine (several)
Nightforce 30mm Low rings X4 (2 sets) <<luuuust>>
Nightforce 3.5-15X56 scope with NP-R1 reticle
Krieger barrel (.260 Rem, straight with no taper) STS tube, at 21.75"
Williams' tactical muzzle break
Timney 4 ounce trigger

Oh my word!!! Pinch me and tell me to stop lusting over this set-up!!! :D

Sounds a lot like my latest build ...

Badger Ordnance M2008 action with 20 MOA rail
Krieger #9 MTU fluted stainless barrel chambered in .260 Rem
AICS 2.0 stock (with either AW or AICS mags ... undecided at present)
CG X-Treme two-stage Mod22 tactical trigger
Premier Reticles Heritage 5-25x56mm with Gen 2 XR illuminated reticle
Seekins rings
AI bipod

The scope and trigger will be here next week but everything else is here already.

As for the OP's original question, I don't need "a truly unlimited 'equivalent to the GDP of a small nation' budget?" for what I want. Basically, every rifle I could ever want is under $10,000 which includes top-of-the-line optics. I'd love an AW and AWM from Accuracy International, a Kimber Caprivi in .454 Lott, a Kimber 8400 Advanced Tactical, a Thomspon Center ICON Warlord, Precision Hunter and Weather Shield and a Barrett 98B. That's all I can think of right now. Of course, if I were to buy all of those and fit them with high-end optics, I'd probably be looking at $35,000 to $40,000 ... a lot of money but still not the GDP of a small nation.

If you include semi-auto rifles and handguns on the "wish list", I could easily get the price tag into six figures!!

Unless you're in a monogamous relationship with another firearm, I think firearms-lust is A-OK ;)

That said, I'd take one of those too!

I'd hire the finest firearms designers in the world to build me one of every class of firearm (pistol, rifle, shotgun, etc) and a few variants of each with the finest materials available.

One-off guns that would be found no where else :D

Maybe with some tasteful engraving and gold and silver chasing :D

Sorry, but I've got to list two.

For collecting - Colt Single Action Army Serial #1 (Sold for $1million last time it went up for auction)

For shooting - Ed Brown Damara in .280 AI with a Schmidt and Bender scope

(I just read the thread again and noticed it said "dream rifle". I'll leave the first on here though, just because it's that awesome! Sorry)
