He's just trying to rattle you.

If you would just like to stick something in his craw in return, if he has any kids, send them NRA Gift memberships.

Who knows maybe curiosity will get him to read some of it.

XD-40, you poked your brother nicely, and he poked you back somewhat less nicely. Next time, let him come to you if he wants to talk about gun control and the right to arms.

~G. Fink

I'm going to assume your brother is a police officer?
Remind him that the criminals he deals with everyday are the same people that walk the same streets that you do everyday. The same people that drive the same streets you do everyday. Go into the same stores that you do everyday. But they have criminal intent on their minds.
Now ask him as a PO to leave his sidearm at home while on duty.
Then ask him if his life is more important than yours just because he is a PO.
Why do I carry or feel the need to? Because you won't fit in my pocket!

Precisely; That, and they tell you:

1. get a life

2. call you names

3. depict wild stereotypes of others

I hope that the irony that both sides have done that in this very thread is intentional. I noticed it and made me laugh.

Just another hippie environmentalist with a Blackhawk 45 LC, an Armalite AR 24, and a Schmidt Rubin K-31,

Never discuss politics with family

Why the heck not? :what:
If not family, then who can you discuss politics with? Co-workers? Oh no, never! Significant other/ spouse? thats no good! Anonymous semi-acquaintances online? well, of course thats ok.

My family, both immediate, and extended, are the folks I enjoy talking politics with the most. And its not because we all agree. I have flaming liberal hippie starving-artist atheist cousins, an uncle who carries every second of the day, a father who considers every part of the federal government except Defense, Treasury, and State departments to be unconstitutional, a very elderly grandmother who goes to church every sunday, and everything in between. The fact is, we don't let it get to us. We are a family and will continue to be a family regardless of politics. Blood is thicker than water around us.

Tai Chi teaches us that in order to achieve peace in a violent situation, we must become violent ourselves.

Never lose sight of the fact that the end goal of all conflict should be peace.

Hence, the Crazy Liberal Pinkies have a point.

There is something to be learned from all perspectives.

Maybe you are the one who will never see the light? What makes you so sure you are right? I have a few conservitive wackos in my family and the problem with them is that they have a frozen belief system. Anything that goes against what the rigidly believe is a problem for them. That and they are completely brainwashed by the right wing corporate media and right wing talk radio. Facts do not matter to these people, so we don't talk much about many things anymore. What I can't figure out is how one can claim to be a Christian and also be an advicate of shooting burglers and such. I guess if Christ had and AK he could would have not been nailed to a cross. Does love your enemy mean anything to Christians anymore?

My brother is a probation officer, he has a badge, but no gun, which is fortunate in his case, as he has a short temper and is confrontational. My brother also believes that culture and media have zero effect on kids today, I vehemently disagree with this, I think it has a huge effect. My brother would just rather ban those nasty, evil guns.:barf: Going after guns is easy, reversing a corrupt culture is not.

Believe it or not, being liberal does not make one against gun rights. And being liberal is not necessarily a bad thing. Neither is being communist, facist, socialist, etc. Being conservative is not necessarily a good thing. I have met a person that describes himself as conservative, BUT he lives in New Jersey and asserts the lack of strict gun control.

The only thing that will ever turn a flaming liberal into a 2A supporter is either themselves or someone they love getting mugged, hurt, killed ,etc. by a BG. That helpless feeling when you are a victim never ever goes away.

Though I don't wish these hurts on anybody, I do agree that they make powerful persuaders.

Yet, some are so hard headed that they can go through even these traumas only to be more entrenched in their dribble brained mindset.

Such is life in a nation that has chosen to enshrine whining and blaming others for not solving their own problems as among the greatest of virtues.

Step away from "Jesus Christ Superstar" and pick up a Bible.

After you do that we can talk about Christianity, OK?

Then five of you will put to flight a hundred, and a hundred of you will put to flight ten thousand, and all who are against you will be put to death by your swords.<< Leviticus 26:8 >>

Personally, I don't have an imaginary friend who tells me to let other people hurt me

I'm a Christian and I find that quote to be........really funny!

For me God and Jesus are real, I also believe in the Declaration of Independence "Endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights"

Life is probably Gods greatest gift, I will use firepower to protect that gift.
Nothing un Christian about that at all, not even a little.

XD-40, try hard to patch up your differences with your brother, it sounds like he has other issues besides guns.

Control issues are a form of mental illness, maybe he was stressed or had something else bothering him.
Take the high road, relax, and enjoy the brief time you have with family.
Blood is thicker then water.

We here on THR mostly agree with you, come here and rant, post on huffpo if you need to annoy insane libs, but maintain a good relationship with siblings.

BTW I have not taken my own advice, my myspace persona sends out pro life bulletins and it drives my older sister insane:cool:
Its great revenge she was a tattletale!

What I can't figure out is how one can claim to be a Christian and also be an advicate of shooting burglers and such.

Probably 'cause I belong to a real Christian demonination and not one that has turned the entire theology of Christianity into the Barney themesong.

Also, what gunsmith said.

The difference between a flaming liberal and a flaming conservative is that being a conservative is nothing to be ashamed of.

Nothing wrong with being an environmentalist.
