Don't have a lot of experience with 9mms. I know I don't care for the Beretta at all. I've shot several M92s and both of them were entirely unimpressive to me. Blah.
I like Glocks as a general rule and am quite fond of my G20. If I were to get a 9mm, the G19 would be pretty high in the running.
I am intrigued by the CZ SP01. They've had better triggers than either of the Berettas that I have shot, have the option of being carried cocked and locked (a biggy for me, I hate the decocker-only traditional DA/SA autos with a burning passion.) The ones I have handled have been much more comfortable in the hand being smaller in grip circumference and trigger reach. Despite this they have a higher capacity. And it is cheaper, so go figure.
I have a SIG P220. If the P226 is as slick, it could be neat. But again, I hate decocker only DA/SA autos and SIG doesn't make a SAO P226 (okay, they have the X-Five or whatever it is called, but that is over twice what I am willing to pay for a pistol). They do make a SAO P220, so that's what I got. Still, a very smooth, well made machine, I could get behind the P226 if they made it in a trigger configuration I could stand.
I gotta give it up for the P35 as well. Even Browning knew the High Power was his true handgun contribution and masterpiece, and I sometimes wish it had ended up the more popular design, instead of the 1911.
So yeah, that's my short list.
