I know there are some fans of the old west guns + sci-fi setting here. They are starting filming this month, with a budget of $50 million. Release is set for early 2005, titled "Serenity". Original cast signed, same special effects company. Reavers will be involved. The story will take place 6 months after the final Firefly episode (that is, 6 months in that universe).
If it is successful, there will be a triliogy of movies. No TV deal is possible for 5 years because of deal Fox and Universal made.
