First Revolver Ever.

Way to go! I'm envious--those handguns aren't on the approved list in Massachusetts. I did buy one of their revolving carbines but had to send it back for a new trigger spring. When you buy that magnum cylinder, you might want to add a trigger spring to your order. You ARE going to buy a magnum cylinder, right?

You are in trouble now. When I bought my second revolver I was all in to pistols. Now all I buy or shoot is revolvers. Hell I don’t really know what the latest and greatest pistols are on the market. I have my two SD pistols(Glocks) and that’s it. I doubt I ever buy another pistol that is not a 1911. But I may die with 100 revolvers, though I have a long way to go.

Yes, absolutely. It’ll be my 2-in-1 or should i say 4-in-1 revolver. Not only that but the 16” Rancher carbine looks kinda funny too :D;)

Nice revolver Sarduy.
IIRC, some states (like IL-ANNOY) don't allow some guns like the Rough Rider to be sold in the state. It is something about the "low melting point" of some of the metal parts.

a heritage roughrider wasn’t my first revolver but i’ve had a few, all purchased new (i would be be leery of a used one unless i knew its former home). mine from several years ago seem better made than the 6.5” nine shot model that i got last year (and sold off).

the hrr is a fine stash piece. i secured one each in the apartments of my late mom and late aunt for some protection during my frequent long visits. each was loaded with 22lr stingers. a hrr is a useful tool if on a slim budget and needing something in hand at home or on a hiking trail. six well placed stingers is six ice pick jabs at 550mph, which ought to discourage a feral dog on four (or two) legs.

i sold off all my hrr for what i paid except for one older one. a ruger wrangler is better at $80 more if one has the coin, but if i needed a new handgun asap a hrr certainly is a decent option for $100+ if it is all that i can afford.

Like many gun laws, makes no sense. Im sure they allow plastic guns

Old laws I think.
The idea being if you could toss a zinc framed gun in a fire and melt the serialized portion, the gun couldn't be traced.
Most if not all of the plastic fantastic have a steel serial number plate embedded in the frame or they serialize the FCG. Another reason for those laws was to take the inexpensive guns off the market, thereby reducing the number of guns in circulation.
Very stupid rationalization, but what gun control scheme isnt?

Personally, I'm a bit pissed at the Heritage ( Taurus ) people. Came across a similar good deal a few months back. Bought two & gave one to my sister in law. Hers has been fine. The one I kept would only fire about 1/2 the rounds in the cylinder. This was across several different types of ammo. Contacted Taurus about repair. They acted like they were doing me a favor to send it in for a fix. So they have it about a month. Take it to the range, and they did NOT fix it. Same issue. So I call back, and now I have to pay for return shipping. So sell me a defective gun, fail to repair, and now expect me to dig into my wallet to give you ANOTHER chance. If you screw up again, will I be on the hook for yet another shipping charge? Cheap gun, not a big loss, but I'll not be buying another.

My thoughts are that you just opened a new can of worms in revolver fever…..enjoy the addiction..:D
Exactly!

When I saw the OP’s post all I thought was…
”And so it begins.”

Congrats on a fun new plinker. Be sure to let us know how you shoot with it.

Stay safe.

My wife and I said that a Heritage was going to be our next purchase. Just waiting for spring to make that happen. Was looking at a 9 shot with the target sights. They look and handle nicely.

Drumroll……

The wait is over, It finally arrived.
i have to say, I’m very impressed with the fit and finish for a $109 gun. Now i can see why people use the heck out of those guns, and the 4 hammer clicks are so addicting :D:D First thing i did was take it apart, clean and oil it. It was dry and i mean DRY… also put a very light film or white lithium grease on the cylinder “ratchet?” And now everything works super smooth. Can’t wait for the shooting portion.

Love those grips on that gun. I think I'm going to order a set.

Congratulations. I have owned a RR, and currently own a new model single six. While a heritage isn’t as good as a Ruger, they are about 4th the price, and are decent and very fun. Single actions, are a passion that many have, and insure you can see why.

Hey guys,

i just want to share this with you and also want to hear your thoughts about it.

I have owned semi autos all my life and have not a few revolvers in my life but never actually bought one for myself. Always about to buy one but every time ended up postponing it.

Last night a friend of mine and i were talking and he mentioned the Heritage Rough Rider .22lr/.22WM and showed me an add for one for $124.99 with free shipping and a $20 rebate. Then i saw the 6.5” Black Pearl edition and it pushed me over the edge. I felt in love with it and for only $129 ($109 after rebate and free shipping) i went ahead and bought it on the spot. I usually don’t impulse buy, but the time, price and looks was right.

what’s your thoughts about this single action revolver?
