The novel that was born from the immortal Lawdog thread on The Firing Line about "Lines I would like to hear in a horror movie someday". It was written by a gun-geek, for gun-geeks, edited, proofed and artwork by THR staff and moderators, and then self published and presold on THR.

It did a teensy bit better than expected, and was picked up by Baen books. It is shipping on July 28th. They just posted the first seven chapters as a free sample for their online webscriptions.

So, for your gun-nerd reading enjoyment:

Enjoy. :)

Look people, I read a lot and I remember most of it. I've re-read my original copy cover to cover THREE TIMES. I'd read it again, but I'm rationing it until the sequel comes out. <= HINT

It's a hoot. And well written and all of that good stuff. Did I mention that it's imaginative as all get out and yet still believable.

Heck, I might order a copy just to get on the bandwagon and so I don't totally trash my collector's edition.

John...who started reading science fiction in the mid-50s.

Just curious, are your publishers going to do a Kindle version?

My wife got me one of those things for my birthday.

I just ordered a copy from Amazon, along with a couple of things I've been meaning to pick up. Now I'll have a loaner copy, because the original isn't allowed out of the house. :)

OK, the first seven chapters are pretty damn good! My Amazon shows it as a pre-order, scheduled for July delivery. Am I missing something? Can I pick it up somewhere else?

Great concept for a book; guns and zombies. Kind of like crack to us THRers....

Nope, it is shipping in July. There was an early self published version, but good luck getting one of those. :)

It was a very interesting read. Hopefully you will produce a long series of books. Keep up the good work. Ill be putting in an order soon via amazon.

Congrats on getting pick up by a publisher!

I just read the 7 chapters there and am hooked. Going to have to make a trip to the book store. ;)

Amazon has 2 copies listed for sale...

1 new from $240.00

1 collectible from $175.00

:D

The Collectible-Like New one for $175 says it includes the shoulder patch.

Great read so far, will definitely pick up a copy of the book. But PLEASE tell me Cthulhu makes an appearance, that would make this book perfect. :p

Much to my better half's disapproval I ordered a copy through Amazon.com. For those of you who already own a complete copy, how many chapters do I get to look forward too? The initial seven were rather captivating.

There are 28 chapters in all.

And yes, there are Great Old Ones. :)

Apparently this is working pretty good. #66 in Fantasy yesterday on Amazon. :)

That's amazing. So is that number 66 "with a bullet" or does that only work on Billboard charts.

Can I be a zombie in the sequel? No, actually I want to be the old guy that makes a cameo appearance with a gun, a cigar and pint of whisky. :)

John

Dr. Rob, are you still writing for that magazine? You want a prerelease review copy?

BHP Fan, I have it on good authority that there will be copies available in hell. :)

On the hardcover, nope. I wasn't famous enough. Maybe the next series.
