For the Glock faithfuls...

I would steal the glock design and make my own pistol that duplicates it. I would probably mess it up a little by trying to improve it. I think I would call it something catchy like......... XD

Are you implying, this would be The Second Coming?

I believe he is saying that it will be the Fifth Coming ;)

As for me, I will take my M&P (9mm), a Sig P226 (.40), and a Nighthawk GRP (.45). If I am not wasting money on cheap tupperware, I can save up for a nice gun right? :neener:

I think I could find something to ease my pain in the Sig Sauer line. Also, I hear M&P's with the Apex trigger approach Glock levels of awesomeness, perhaps I'd give one a try.

The problem with all the other polymer gun manufacturers (for me) is most of them "fixed" the Glock grip. So they all have this super ergonomic grip that's sorta straight all the way, then there's a huge recess/cutout at the top of the web. I suppose this is what makes the gun feel ergonomic to the masses. And it also makes the reach for the trigger slightly shorter for those with small hands, I guess. But I can't stand it.

So I'd get an FNX and put on the flat backstrap.

I wonder why no one's made an ergonomic 1911, yet?

Which one has the straight grip again? It is not the beavertail that makes it ergonomic, that is to prevent slide bite. I do like the beavertail also because it allows me to push my hand as high up on the grip as I can without having part of my hand stick out enough to be caught by the slide.

Well, I was thinking more of the Steyr, XD, SR9, et all.

The M&P "all curved" grip is bad (for me) in its own way. Albeit it doesn't have a large cutaway at the web like some of the others do.

I like the Glock grip because the hump pushes/forces your hand up, and the lack of cutout jams the web of your hand into the gun.

I mean, I LIKE a straight grip (And to me a Glock hump makes the grip straighter than straight. It's like a reverse curve, if anything, looking at the top 2/3 of the grip where it matters). It's the cutaway that I dislike. And the m&P doesn't have the cutaway, but then it has the curve. That curve pushes the web of your hand away from the gun, leaving the gun loosey goosey to rock up under recoil IF you prefer a high thumb inline grip, as I do. If you place your thumb low and hold the gun centered between the two halves of the iscosceles, then a little curve there may be preferable for you.

Gotcha. I just went and looked at an XD and I never really noticed how weird the grip looks, especially with the grip safety depressed.

Yeah, it's that cutaway part at the web that irks me. The Steyr M9 might be even worse. I haven't found a good reason to have that there, unless maybe you have a short trigger finger. The M&P actually feels pretty good to me if I use a low thumb grip. I just don't like my support hand on the gun that low. I like to get it way up high on the gun with my right thumb against the side of the slide, not the frame. With a Glock, or with a straight gripped gun like a 1911, this high thumb hold works fine. But with a highly arched grip or a grip with a cutout, it leaves a little slackening of the pressure at the web, which just doesn't feel right to me.

If I had to replace my Glocks tomorrow, I'd pick up a brace of M&P 9mm's (1 full size, 1 compact, no external safety or mag disconnect). I wouldn't even think twice about it.

Wouldn't the plastic melt in the upper atmosphere. They may leave earth, but no way that make it to heaven. Tupperware disintegrates too easily!

On the other hand though, all the 1911s (except taurus) will still be around millions of years after us humans are gone. They will all (except taurus) fire with not so much as a hiccup

This is a trick question, obviously, since Glocks are soulless chunks of ugly plastic. Only the 1911 will be saved, and all who adhere true to its virtue along with it.

Atmospheric temperature DECREASES (it gets colder) with altitude. Only thing that could get them hot as they ascend is if they're moving so fast that air friction heats them up!

You may have a point. Note that the first word in my original post is "If."

I have to think my faultless SR9c will closely trail the 1911!
