If she is worth it, and if your guns are worth it, GO FOR IT DUDE . . . and understand that you should be able to win her heart on both issues.

Nothing wrong with this thread. It's been remarkably civil. I think it's been quite entertaining. Nobody's broken any rules. The only one who seems to want to close it is you.

I'm still monitoring it to what becomes of the OP. I don't think we've heard from him in a bit (maybe she beat him up for not toeing the line).

Okay. Not sure how many woman have answered, but here's my opinion.....

I would never want a man to change what he is, or give up the things he loves, for me. He might be willing to do it when the relationship is all new and shiny, but a few years down the road, if he's holding that grudge and the relationship hits a bump, all that is going to come up like Mt Vesuvius..... It could be ugly, and no-one wants that!

You need to find someone who shares your passions in life, and if she doesn't, will give you the space to enjoy yours! No-one should ask another human being to give up something that means something to them. It does not augur well for a long-term relationship.

She says, and I quote, "He needs to end this relationship now."

My wife didn't intially like my gun collection either. It didn't matter if they were locked in the safe or on my person. Then I took her to our county's web page and clicked on the "locate sex offenders in your area" link. It's no longer an issue.

The song ends with the line "I just had to tell that girl to kiss my a$$." Try the diplomatic approach and negotiate, then if that doesn't work, take her out for a nice fancy dinner, order the most expensive thing on the menu, after the meal excuse yourself to use the restroom, and ditch her.
