Be Warned, My Friend. You may lose your handgun.

I took my wife out shooting to get her an idea of what she may like to get. She decided that MINE was the one she wanted.

Well, it was an excuse to go get another handgun.

Yes, you are a lucky one.
I too have dated many women who feared self defence.
From my past//
Her: Is is loaded?
Me: well of course it is, Don't you know that unloaded guns kill people.
My smart mouth made me single in just one day, I figure thats how long it took her to figure out what i said.
Now I have a firearms friendly woman in my life, and I am not letting her go.

She's a winner!! Keep her! That's one alert and knowledgeable lady ya got there. Now, what kind of sidearm would suit her for herself?

I kinda hope she is turned off from my gun by the kick. It's a full-size .40, so it's not that bad. I will be working on firearms retention ;)

I don't know that I would give her that much credit, to have figured out what you meant. I bet she didn't even think about what it meant.
About the last thing you said... Congrats!

Thanks. I have already offered to teach her and help her choose something that would fit her. I started talking about a HD gun, rather than suggest she jump right into carrying. For most people, I think it takes a little time to think about the responsibility before getting on that bandwagon.

Maybe she'll like the feel of the Kahr PM9. That's one of the guns I have my eye on :)

My wife is not a gun person but one of the first dates we went on was to the target range, where she limpristed and almost dropped my brand new Colt enhanced Officers stainless steel .45 ACP. she had never fired a gun before and even with proper instruction & watching me put 50 rounds down range, she was not prepaired for the first shot. But as time went on she got the hang of it and is a pretty good shot, but still not a gun person. I know I should have rented a .22 but at that time in my life all I had was my Colt.45 ACP. and realy did'ent think that much about it. fast foward to 15 june 93, Annie and I have been married about a year and I'm getting ready to leave for my 2nd. trip to the sand box and Annie says "before you leave could you load the gun for me like you do at the range ? " I was like . well Annie is 5'4 in.tall & 115 lbs. It never occured to me that she could not pull the slide back to chamber a round. I always kept the Colt in condition 1 but after cleaning it before deployment, I left it in condition 3. This was my fault. So I chamber a round for her and thanked God I found this out before I left.:banghead:

Hugged each other and she put her hand right on my loaded gun, the Kimber 1911 under my shirt that is, heh - no kidding...

Since that day almost 5 years ago we've found ourselves married to one another. She rides her own Hog as she refuses to to be a passenger on mine - and kicks my ass in every race. She got her own Kimber Compact 1911 for her birthday three years ago, and out shoots me every time. Her caged vehicles are a '86 Mustang SVO that's almost mint, and a loud-ass F150 with racing stripes down the sides. She'll take a Blackhawk .44 and hit every metal drop target at 25 feet with the nastiest hand-loads I dare create. A Tom-boy oh yes, and one that every guy would like to get into her blouse I swear. Yet never has she given me a reason to doubt her unconditional vows from three years ago. At 46 years old you'd swear she more like 32 - and what a wise-ass she is. A definite keeper as I'm certain it would take me another 30 years to find one similar, yet not the same. Keep your chin up - they are out there...

there's a girl who I could have dated but totally screwed things up on an unrelated note.

We're good friends these days anyways... just not dating. In fact, she wants to be my roomate at some point (not sure why).

Anyways, she knows I carry a gun and she doesn't care. She says, "If you want to carry a gun, that's fine. It doesn't bother me." - this was before I screwed things up btw.

I married above myself. A good looking Redhead that let's me hunt and fish when I want and has no problems with my guns. I do my best to treat her like a Queen.

Want to have fun sometime if you ever get exposed to a hen fest where they are complaining about the lack of "Good Men". Ask them what makes them think they are suitable to attract a "Good Man"?

After they pick their jaws off the ground and finish giving you that cold steel look, the vast majority do not even mention the things that the guys married for decades talk about.

I tell them to start by buying a nice Bass boat........

GOOD JOB FINDING A COOL CHICK!

My father-in-law started taking my wife shooting when she was 9. He raised her on his own so she got to do guy stuff. She can chanhe her own flat, even a spark plug! This doesn't mean she doesn't make me but it makes me feel better knowing she can. My wife now has as many firearms as I do. Her favorite is her Taurus 605 .357. I knew she was really a keeper when she asked if we could go plinking after dating for about a month. Good luck with this one.

BTDT. Guns were always second or third date material for me, and therefore there were a lot of ladies that I only took out two or three times. Tried to get it out there early before dating turned into an actual relationship. Easier for both parties to walk away.

The lady of the house was never really bothered by guns. Took me a while to get her to go to the range with me, and now when we go I cant shoot the 9mm AR15 because she wont give it back...

"Where are these single, gun-loving women in their 20's??!!!?!!? Because they're evidently not in Ohio."

maybe your not looking hard enough. or maybe we're hiding in va.:p

Must be nice, my wife doesn't like guns at all. Even went so far as to tell me that her whole family hates guns. Her dad found out I have guns and proceeded to buy himself one. Turns out "hates guns" actually means "never wanted guns".

I'm the opposite. I was shooting a late 20s 1911A when I was 8, and have had guns all the time since then. I hope she eventually gets used to them because two isn't enough.

Fuunnnnnnyyyyy

A while ago, I was dating a girl who knew that I had a gun. In bed, she asked if I had protection. I responded "yeah, there's a gun on the nightstand" She laughed!

This is priceless!!!!

im 21 and have always been into guns. i moved to arizona a few years back for college with my fience of 5 years now. she never said anything wether she like or not. so i started buying guns in AZ and having her go with my in the desert shooting.

so now im awaiting my CCW, and she doesn't care at all. she feels safer with me having it on me since i used to always open carry in AZ. its nice to find someone that can share your love for something and not get mad at you.

its like ok, you hate guns, i hate shopping.

but thats different!!

how

well umm... it is.

lol

LOL. See everyone? It's not just me ;)

From the beginning of my first post... I know exactly how you feel!!

Thanks, pax! The technique gets overlooked a lot.

Why must you interesting ladies hide so much??? :)

Must be nice, my wife doesn't like guns at all....
From some of the stories I have read on THR, be patient. A few times, I have read about the wife/girlfriend who professes her hatred of guns eventually saying something like "I hope you are carrying today". Guns can be such a polarizing, emotional, misunderstood topic for many people. I'm sure it's frustrating to be on either side of the issue.

I had a girl have me remove my guns from the wall of the bedroom....i did..for that one night......I no longer have her around....the guns were keepers however....and my now wife gets mad if I don't carry..one time she found out I wasn't carrying and she said"great, what are you going to do use harsh language to stop a bad guy?"Now SHE'S a keeper.;)

dude, my mom is really really anti gun and when she started dating my step dad, she would tell him he couldn't carry. dad would just carry derringers in his pockets.
he got her back though. he tought her little daughter to shoot and love guns. now i live with him. moms happy living with her new husband who doesn't have guns and supports her horse habit, and me and dad clean guns at the kitchen table when ever we want!:neener:

Women and Guns

Here is NY I think the odds of finding a gun friendly woman is 1 in 100. All the women here are interested in is a "successful" guy that can provide them with "stuff" (house, expensive bags, etc).

Everytime I mention hunting the immediate response is "How could u kill Bambi?"

Then I go into an educational lesson about carrying capacity and how hunter's should be thanked for what they are doing.

This never goes over well as it sounds too smart and the women here like their men dumb. Rich and dumb. Its actually pretty sad. I am really trying to move further away from NYC in the hope that I could find a woman that is more "country" that I have something in common with.
