Awile ago I made a thread on which to get. Kel-Tec SU-22 or a Ruger 10/22. The Kel-Tec looked cool but the 10/22 is known to be more reliable. So I got the 10/22 because of it's legendary reliability, it was cheaper, and you can still add stuff on it to make it look kind of tacticool as well.
So far the ten round mags work perfectly, no jams of any kind, however the BX-22 mags tend to jam on me. I'm wondering if it's either;
A: Because they need to be broken in?
B: Because they sort of have a wiggle to them?
C: They just don't like the ammo? I was using winchester hollow point bulk pack and Browning bulk pack regular lead round nose. Also tried some Winchester M22, and Federal Champion, and Remington thunderbolt. All work great in my Ruger MKIII.
Idk, but I'm somewhat disappointed in that.
Also I saw on youtube that they seem to be able to cycle sub sonics. Mine will not no matter what magazine I used. I used CCI quiet ammo, and no luck, I either have to manually cycle them or sometimes they'll just stovepipe or something. Maybe the rifle needs broken in too? I've fired a few hundred rounds in two range trips so far. So not that much use. Maybe the newer 10/22s are more finicky? I got it at Academy for a tad over $200 dollars. Mags, guns, everything brand new. I cleaned it after the first range trip to see if it made a difference, it did not.
So since I'm new to owning a 10/22 anyone have any tips or tricks they might like to share?
I'll post a picture, I'm satisfied with the looks, and so far with the ten rounder mags. It's super enjoyable to shoot though so overall I'm still satisfied, just not as much as I thought.
Also if anyone knows where to get a Ram-Line Ventilated Black Handguard for the 10/22 let me know. I've looked everywhere and can't find any. I got another handguard but it doesn't stay on very well.
