So i have a moderate collection that i keep privately for myself, and always keep a few good deal pickups around the safe to sell to friends or to make a few bucks if i need it. Well, one of those pickups was a pretty nice Colt Mustang pocketlite with 4 mags that i picked up for 500 a few years ago. I noticed that colt started making them again, so i figured i should sell it while demand was still up (and im not much for autos for tiny pistols. Im a revolver guy).

Well, Low and behold, i get a offer for a brand new Ar-15. Fresh off the line from a class III dealer and built by there gunsmith. I decided to take it, since my current AR was a DPMS A-15 carbine. Nothing too fancy.

I decide to trade out my DPMS to see what offers i can get, and my first offer was for a Colt Delta Elite 10mm, Dated 1991, with 4 magazines and 200 rounds of ammo. Straight across.

Cant beat that with a stick... So for 500 bucks and 2 weeks worth of work, i upgraded my AR and got a delta elite that looks almost new and a handfull of accessories.

You guys ever had any epic trades or multi trades into something better?

My best trade was back during the AWB - I swapped a Beta-C AR magazine for a Romanian AK, 7 stick mags, one Chinese drum mag, and 1000 rounds of 7.62x39 ammo. I don't recall what I have in the Beta-C, but it wasn't much.

I have been involved in several "epic" deals in the half century that I have been buying and selling guns. Unfortunately, there have been as many epic for the other guy as for me. Many times both parties have walked away with a snicker on their face thinkin' they got the better of the deal.

Traded a NIB MAK90 for a used AK + cash that came out being the exact price of a used S&W model 66, box of S&B 158 gr. FMJ 357 mag., and 1 hour range time at a LGS. Hadn't had a .357 for 20 yrs, when my Taurus 66 was stolen.

Traded a DPMS .308 Sportical for a DPMS LR260. About an even trade, I think the LR260s MSRP was a little higher. Then when I showed up to do the swap the guy brought about 150rds of factory 260 rem and another 150 pieces of once fired brass. He said he didn't need them any more so he just gave them to me. Nice guy.

Heard once of a guy who started out with a Holland & Holland double rifle......after about six trades he ended up with a Mossberg shotgun. Sometimes it doesn't work out....

Nothing out of this world, but I traded a Glock 22 for an SP-01 Phantom + 5 mags. Even trade, but I feel like I got the better part of it.

Through a bit of trading, I got both a Single Six .32 H&R mag and a 629 3" for a PSL.

I traded a gen II Glock 22 for a Honda Interceptor 750 (I altered it a bit):

A S&W model 19 (bought for $200) for a 1966 Dodge D-100 (Running & driving) that I turned around and sold for $900

A Romanian WASR (Paid $175) for a '78 Dodge Aspen T-top Coupe. After many hours and about 5 grand in parts, it's now a 440-powered mini-muscle car that turns a lot of heads.

Traded a 700 ADL .30-06 and a Vaquero .44 Mag for an '87 Cherokee 4x4 that I later traded for a one-owner '83 Ramcharger 4x4

Traded a TEC-9 jam-o-matic p.o.s. for a NIB T/C Contender in .223 with a 24" heavy barrel. Best trade I've ever made.

I acquired a High Standard 22LR R103 once in exchange for some work on a truck. More of a gift really, the guy was going thru some tough times and I did the work as a favor, but he ended up giving me the revolver anyway. Used it toward a P22 that is much better to shoot. The R103 was cool (funny how such an ugly thing can fit the hand so well) but getting $150 off on the Walther was much cooler.

I'd have kept the Sentinel. I have an R101 and an R107 Deluxe, paid $100 for each. Great little guns.

I traded some un-used SCUBA equipment for 2 Kimber .45s, and a SuperRedhawk in 454/45LC. I then traded them for the following:

a pair of Ruger Vaqueros for SASS/CAS shooting
a Ruger Single SIx in .22 LR
a 3 1/2 RIA .45 acp
a Uberti Cattleman in 45LC
a S&W Model 36 in Stainless w/ a bobbed hammer

I am happy, the people up and down the line are happy... win!

After my trade and buying my Model 60 I sold my bobbed hammer Model 36 at Gibraltor TC in Taylor. But mine was satin nickel, with the bobbed hammer, and trigger jeweled. Yours doesn't happen to have a minor dent to the left of the rear site does it? If that happens to be it, I can give you more history on it.

I traded a old 40 horse evinrude for a 30-30, then later traded that for a 63 Plymouth Belvidere with push button shift and a 318. What a sled that was.

Its not exactly gun related, but a few years ago I found out my girlfriend was cheating on me... a lot. So I got rid of her and traded her engagement ring for a motorcycle

I even traded a Busse knife that I had maybe $250 in for a Howa rifle w/ Axiom stock, which I then traded even for a S&W 686.

A bushmaster standard hn 16 inch with the original carry handle upper for

Stainless red hawk 7.5 scope with scope mounts 200 rounds and 4-500 brass a couple bullet molds, dies and a layman hand reloader for the colt...

And a Remington 700 stainless 223 bead blasted synthetic stocked with bushel 3-9 scope

Marlin 22 mag with scope, 1000 rounds ammo
