GREAT Factory Sniper Rifle

I don't think the Warlord was meant to compete with the production Remington, Savage., ect. It is a custom shop gun and is priced accordingly.

I am of the opinion that most of what you see here is in the Remington 700 VS. If you can't do it with a Remington, you are probably wasting money on one of these. I think that the law of diminishing returns kicked in on one of these a long time ago.

I recently escorted some army officers to a range where marine scout/snipers were demonstrating. One of them asked how much an M-40 A3 was worth, the guy told him, "As set up, with the S&B optics, about $6k." As we were walking away, I told them if they wanted to get serious, to get a Remington 700 VS, lighten the trigger to 3 lbs, get a Leupold Mk IV and head to the range for about $1100. They would have to learn a WHOLE LOT before the rest of the tricks would make any difference to them, and even then it would be very little.

BTW, those marines seem to make the Remington action work JUST FINE. Out to 1000 yards, with reloaded 175 grain match grade, non rifle specific ammo.

Yes Sir... it's like a snap-on screwdriver, excellent quality, with proper care will last a lifetime AND it will remove/install a screw.... or you can get the Dale Ehrnheart Snap-On screw driver.... fancy grip, exotic colors, twice the price...
AND it will remove/install a screw!

:D

Cool looking rifle. I think its priced accordingly for a custom shop rifle. Also I think a .5 moa guarantee is a pretty big statement to the accuracy of the rifle.

My understanding is that GA precision has had considerable input into the Icon. It is not out of line with other similarly priced guns of this class. Whether or not it belongs in said company remains to be seen, but I would love to think an American company can compete with sako/AI for factory precision/sniper rifles.

I don't know about you-all, but I am not that impressed with the "oversized bolt handle" on ANY "sniper" rifle. I guess if I just HAVE to make super-duper quick shots with a bolt action, then it might give me an edge. There is so much other stuff involved with sight acquisition and getting off an accurate shot, that how the bolt feels isn't that important to me. I seem to work the standard bolt handle just fine. Anyone else have an opinion on the value of the different bolt handles?

The CZ550 is the same action as the 750, just a different stock, and no muzzle brake.

$3k is a lot of money. For only a little more the AI is out there.
