Please folks, stick to products and not guns. Guns are subjective, too many variables. Products are not so subjective.
Okay, my additions
1. ADCOM .223 - 5 case head rips in 16 rounds. 0 out of 3700 in other types of ammo including wolf.
2. USA mags. yes this has been beaten to death but it is particularly rancorous to me. i stocked up on hi caps before the 2000 CA ban. at least i thought i did. today i have nothing but a bunch of hi caps that are utterly useless. the only thing they are good for is filling the mag well for a wall hanger.
3. CLP weapon wipes. what a stupid idea. like wet-naps with clp on them. they make a huge mess, are expensive, and are easily outdone by a rag and a small oil bottle of clp
4. NcStar spotting scopes, esp the 15-60x one. piece of crap, can't see squat. spotting scopes are like folding pocket knives - buy a damn good one and never buy one again.
5. cheap crap "leather sand bag" rifle rests at SPG. they are WAAAY smaller than they look in the ad and are pretty much useless. use a real sandbag instead.
6. gun glow paint. the stuff melts right off.
7. cheap crap "gunsmith's" screwdrivers. these useless POSes will bugger your screws. get real gunsmith screwdrivers that have concave sides.
I've been shooting handguns for almost twenty years now and I have yet to find ANY after-market magazines that worked flawlessly for handguns or rifles.
Sure, maybe some folks find one now and then that work for them, and that's great. I haven't. I've got a couple of USAs that I use for malfunction clearing drills. They are perfect for that. So yes, mine do have a use. Just not the purpose the manufacturer advertised.
Remington Thunderbolt .22. Our club had to deal with using it for a year, and it was common to have 10-30/100 duds. That, and I could feel a noticeable difference in recoil with every round.
ANY aftermarket 20-rd attached magazine for the SKS. Paper mache is less flimsy than that crappo potmetal.
As for American Ammo, I did a 4-day shoot once where I bought & shot ~3000 rounds of .45ACP American without any hiccup; my friend tried using their .40S&W and was averaging a jam every 3 rounds. (I'm not kidding, he had that many FTE's)
Mine worked, but I'll never use their stuff again. (didn't even know they were still in business.)
For years I used the fine high-quality and low priced soft cases from Allen and other accesories (shell cases, etc). I was proud to buy a high-quality American made product proudly marked as such.
Allen now imports products from communist China. I now will no longer support them in any respect.
The only negative experience I've had so far is with Uncle Mikes holsters. For the money, it's a feasible solution, I guess. But I found them to be too bulky for effective concealment, too rough on the finish of guns, and adjusting them (at least the shoulder rigs) is a royal PITA. I'd probably only use them to open carry an old plinker if I didn't have or want to spend money on anything else.
Some BSA scopes. I have a 4-16x42mm that shoots great on my 22lr. My dad pawned off a BSA platnium 36x target scope. I figured I would try it out well My remington 700vls in 223 that normaly shoots .411" 5 shot 100 yard groups went to nothing less .75" with the same loads with most of them going well over 1" It is now sitting in the safe with nothing to do. It could not hold zero at all would not shoot the box in any reasonable attemp. I did not expect much from the scope but I did expect to see it do something. I think it would work great on one of them super sniper shotguns like the guys in the Extreme shock ammo ads would use on a terroriest trying to set off a dirty cherry bomb in a mall.
I am going to call JUNK on BSA platnium 36x target scope.
Anything that says LEE on it is also junk. My brother broke 3 different presses reloading a 222 rem. Alum is for airplanes not reloading presses. I will stick to a big chunk of cast iron and steel like my RCBS press.
