Vern, you missed my point - communists in Eastern Europe never fully disarmed people - hunting rifles and shotguns were never seized for example. Before 1989 the population in Bulgaria was about 7 million people and about 50 - 60 000 of them were hunters (I don't know the exact numbers). That is a really impressive number for an army, don't you think? The situation in other communist countries was the same. And yet we don't have any really successful resistance movement in those countries - a one that truly succeeded. Dictators don't really need to disarm people, only to eliminate their leaders.

If I understand you, your point is that people in Eastern Europe had arms but chose not to use them (although the numbers you give are far below those in the US.)

My point is that disarming the people is a major step toward tyrammy. And in the US, we have a tradition of armed citizens resisting tyrants.
 
new member user n tnt544 i came across this forum and was hoping to get some honest replys i tried to buy a gun out of state i was told by my ffl guy calif. now taxes guns from incoming states and they made the background check a straight fee of 135.00 is any of this true ???
