Had mine in the mailbox 3 weeks to the day i applied for it.
Applied for FL permit 2 weeks ago, still waiting for that.
Wife applied 2 weeks ago for VA and FL, still waiting.

Crap! I just realized I put (3 months) next to 14 - 16 weeks! Stupid math.... Hopefully that doesn't throw off too many people.

***ETA: Mods, is there any way I can edit the poll?***

And dang all you people in states that take minutes to process or don't require licenses/permits. :p

Though, I'm glad I don't live in NY. Five references, fingerprint cards... sounds like quite the hassle.

I put "2 weeks" because it's the closest. I'm not due for renewal for about 2 more years, but if I recall correctly the procedure is fill out the paperwork, wait a week/7 days and go down to pick up a temporary permit, and within 10 days your actual CCW will be mailed to you. I think it was more like 6 days, but it may have been a day or two more than 10.

So, two weeks from desire to acquire isn't too bad. A heck of a lot better than many other states, to be sure - even supposedly "gun freedom" states like Texas, where the process is somewhat more lengthy. But, they do have a bit of a different, more... "flamboiant" culture down there, too. A whole lot less restrained.

Too damn long for any excuses. First time was 3 1/2 months, renewal was even longer, though they promised renewals were far shorter wait time. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I despise wayne county.

In my county in Colorado, it took 3 weeks to the day to get mine. I went through the whole deal, background checks, fingerprinting, required gun safety course, paid the $150 in fee's, got a phone call 3 weeks to the day to come get my permit.:D

The only thing that pisses me off about Colorado is that we are entered into a CBI database as a "person of interest". This falls under the Colorado criminal information center.:fire:  This was supposed to sunset in July 2007, but our idiot Democrats in the state house/senate decided to make it permanent, and our govenor, Bill Ritter, will sign it. He is a brady campaign endorsed governor. This is defacto gun registration.:fire:

Arizona

Mine took two weeks. Most of that was three days shipping both ways, + a holiday weekend (thank you Presidents Washington and Lincoln). At the time I was living in the boonies and dist. out of Phoenix for mail is never described as "quick." But I count part of the speed on my record already being cleared through the state to teach, fingerprints on file etc.

Can't tell you if that's fast or not because everyone I put in at the same time as, were county DOC officers etc. So already being on record and cleared, we assume causes speed.

Minnesota, I brought my application in on a Monday, had my permit in the mail that Thursday. :)

It would have only taken me about 3 weeks, but when I went down to the courthouse to pick it up there were some typos on my address so I had to wait another 2 1/2 weeks to get a new card printed and signed by the court clerk

My Sheriff took about 10 days. He took about 19 hours to sign off of my last Form 4's :D

About two months, which is roughly average for those who live in gun-friendly towns/cities in Ma.

There are some places here which will not issue no matter who you are, as final say is up to CLEO. :barf:

New Hampshire: 4 days (resident)

Massachusetts: 30 days (non-resident)

Connecticut: 60 days (non-resident)

i am in fla and mailed my paper work in on Dec 16th and had my permit on Jan 6th the permit was dated Jan 5 i think thats pretty quick concidering we Christmas and new years to deal with.:)
