Happy Thanksgiving y'all! For something fun today... How much ammo do you have in your favorite caliber? Just that one you love most. Let's exclude .22LR for this exercise.

For me, it's probably 5500 rounds in 7.62x39. I would guess that 9mm is a distant second.

I don't know. As long as I have enough, I don't reload more. Many multiple thousands of bullets ready to stuff when I do. It also has to do with having ammo at home, at the cabin and in the truck. My sons and grandkids all shoot my reloads too, does that count as mine also?

I don't see ammo amounts as a bragging point. Others are free to disagree. For the guy who shoots one or two rounds a year and always gets his deer, a box or two of 20 is enough. For the serious competitor, your 5500 rounds is probably a weekend. It's all relative.

Don't have a precise count of ammo. My focus with guns is collecting, not shooting. That said,

(1) I have at least some ammo for each gun.
(2) There's a disproportionate amount of surplus .303 British, which I got at a bargain. This is for my three No. 4 Enfields.
(3) I have lots of guns in .30-06, but not much ammo in that caliber. Same goes for 5.56 mm, .45 ACP, and 9 mm.
(4) There is one sealed can of .50 BMG API (110 rounds). I'm not opening that spam can.
(5) I actually have more blank ammo in .30-06 than live, bulleted rounds (in any caliber). This is left over from my days doing WW1 / WW2 reenacting.
(6) Buying more ammo is low on my list of priorities. Selling what I do have is not happening, either.

I don't know exactly but I probably have 500-600 rounds of .44 mag and .44 Special loaded with components on hand to load a couple thousand more.
Nothing crazy. I try to keep my component stock higher than my loaded round stock.

I stopped buying much 38/357/9/40/45/10 and started reloading, but I am pretty good with what I have. Accumulating (slowly) components at this point and reloading as I shoot.

Only thing I want to buy more of is .308, but that’s a want not a need, really.

Nowadays it's mostly reloading components & powder for the various things that I load for. Far as ammo goes; when the NY SAFE act was enacted back in 2013, I realized it was time to stock up on things like steel case 7.62x39 and 12 ga. Sabot slugs. I don't reload shotgun shells and rarely reload any 7.62x39 despite having brass, bullets & dies. Should be set for life on those two things. Along with 22LR and 12 ga. target loads for sporting clays, ( which I got a deal on when my club bought a truckload of them). I eventually came to the realization that if I put off buying ammo until next year, it will go up in price, or else not be easily available. I don't consider myself a hoarder; just want a reasonable amount based on my annual usage and my estimate of how many more years I'll be using it. Only ammo I anticipate buying this year, will be some 22 magnum for the Ruger Single Six convertible, which is the only gun I have that can use 22 Mag. E.T.A. I already sold a bunch of what I considered surplus through a local auction house, and even after their 30% commission, I was still happily surprised at how much I got from the sale. They only deal in factory ammo in the original packaging, although they even sold a few bandoliers of old, mil-surp, corrosive, 303 British ammo on stripper clips for me. IMG_9218.JPG .. If some of you guys discover that you wish to sell off some of your ammo stash when you begin downsizing, or make plans for your estate, consider auction houses. Gun shows are few & far between and of course we all know how ammo prices have been the last few years.

By my favorite cartridge would you mean the one I'm most happy developing at this time? If so the answer would be <150 as I have maybe 100 factory rounds and a few ladders built up ready to go down range. But cartridges prepared for the "zombie apocalypse" I have many more

Not exactly a "caliber," and only my "favorite" for certain applications, but I hope to have a few less 12-gauge shotgun shells when I get back from my traditional Thanksgiving morning pheasant hunt this afternoon - which I'm leaving for in just a few minutes. Y'all have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving. 😃

Probably 3000 38spl reloads& 500 light 357 reloads. I haven't bought any factory ammo since before the pandemic and now reload nearly everything I shoot. Winter reloading season is almost here and will be stocking up. I've got enough brass, powder & primers for another 20K rounds.

Probably around 2500 22, 1500 9mm, 400 38 spl., 100 30 06, 100 30 30, 100 410, ?? 12ga. Winter is here so I will spend the next couple months reloading.

My favorite caliber is 22LR and at current pace I have enough to shoot maybe 3 - 4 years without a need to get more. But I will.

Not counting rimfire, of which I have a lot, I have 5 .50 cal and 2 or 3 .30 cal ammo cans filled with loose 5.56. I don’t know how much that is, but it’s enough to keep me shooting AR’s for many, many moons.

Stay safe.
