This is for how long???

Texas...$140.00 to the state.
$100.00 for the class.
One 50 round box of .380 ammo at a time that was hard to get...$25.00.
Approximately $6.00 for certified return receipt mail to the Texas DPS.
Total =$271.00.

Here in Louisiana:

- Basic Handgun course averages $100. Cost me and dad $90/each.

- App fee to State Police is $25/year. Before Aug 15, 2010, choices were 2 or 4 year permits. Now the only choice is a 5 year permit, which is $125.

- Fingerprinting at State Police charges a $10 fee, but you can do it at your local Sheriff's Office if you wish.

Permit, if approved, will arrive in 30 to 45 days.

Arizona was $65 for the class and $110 for the state.

Mine ran about $180 +ammo about 5 years ago including the class, finger printing, background check, and general fees for the permit. HSO said $220 earlier. As I recall it was not that much, but maybe the cost in TN has gone up. The class cost does vary somewhat. The difficult thing is knowing which class to take as most people blow it off and say they took ... this classs, but there is no ... the best class... kind of information. I would rather pay a little more and learn more and not everyone are good instructors.

Harley Quinn, the first license granted is for four years and expires on your date of birth.
Since my license was granted in March but my birthday is in December I get several extra months.
I believe the second renewel is a lot less and the good thing is the expiration is something like ten years later I do believe.
Still this is way too costly for way too many common folks in my opinion.
I dont like it but after getting my CHL I certainly would not like to go back to being a non licensee

heeler

Thanks for the response, it does seem expensive, but I have shot a lot of ammo to keep up my skills over the years... Others are certainly eye opening about price and duration...

This is all for CCW permits, if it is/was open carry and no expense, how safe is that  No training or teaching just putting on a firearm and hanging out with it on:uhoh:

Regards

$550 with ammo,

i did it after work and by myself with the instructer. The conveinince(sp) was worth it.

For the Pennsylvannia people it's no classes, $25 for paper permit, $47.00 for a "driver's licence" type permit and is good for 5 years, unless you screw up. I go for the driver's licence type so I do not worry about washing it or getting it wet. Takes only 15-20 minutes, that's outside Philly though. No fingerprinting, no classes.

Wyoming

$79 to the sheriff's office for 5 yr. permit. Additional cost if a class is needed, but if you've taken a hunter safety course, you're good to go. $50 renewal.

Jefferson County Alabama ( Birmingham ) $15 for one year, no class to attend, but the sheriff runs a background check first time and every time it is renewed. No charge for background check. It is really easier to get CCW than it is to get a drivers license. CCW permit is non-restricted, that is you can carry any legal revolver or pistol and you don't have to list them at the time you get the permit or any time there after. (kind of like a drivers license that is good for all cars) CCW permit must be renewed every year by the anniversity date of when you first got it.

About $160. But you wont get a CCW in my county without proper cause and I don't have proper cause. So, I have to settle with carrying only when target shooting, camping and hunting.

Yes it is!

It is the same in Blount County but that is up to the individual sheriff. He can issue unrestricted or qualified CCW's. That is his call.

$75 to state certified Firearms Instructor for 4-hour self defense law class, 4-hour gundafety class (written exams on both classes) and qualification at the firing range, to get certified as eligible.

$115 at the drivers license office to file application with two sets of fingerprints made, opted to use drivers license photo, and about 90 days to process background check with TBI and FBI.

$55 for renewal.

I have NR permits from VA.FL. UT and NV. The first three were covered so I'll give NV info

License 100.25 includes electronic fingerprinting
Mandatory class from NV instructor with live fire-$180.00 because I had individual instruction. Brought my 2 Glocks rented a Kimber for 15 dollars, plus 22 bucks for a box of ammo. Had to rent a Kimber because my locking case only holds 2 pistols and I wanted all three listed on my permit Brought my ammo for my Glocks

*NV requires that you qualify with live fire with each semi auto you want to carry and they are listed on your permit. They also require a class in NV from a licensed NV instructor. If you qualify with any revolver then any revolver is OK. My instructor lent me his snubbie to use.

I was in Vegas visiting friends so I won't include my airfare or the 500 bucks I lost at the tables.

So license 100.25
Class/range 180.00
Being able to carry in NV=priceless

:)

It's gone up a little since I got mine in Tn. I paid $107 to the state and that included fingerprinting. It was $50 for the 8 hr classs and a box of ammo. My son got his a year ago and paid what hso did and $75 for the class and whatever the UPS store charged for fingerprints.

in pa sheriff is not allowed to charge over $25.00. if you were charged over that you were charged too much $25.00 fee is set by law

swinokur:
Why many carry the revolver over the semi auto, for ccw... No confusion, if I was going with a revolver, I would have it in a S&W, DA only...
;)
