How much shooting do you do?

At least once a week

120- 38's
60- 45's

on fun days add

500 - 22's
50 - 357's
50 - 41's
50 - 44's

if I didn't reload it would be a whole lot less. Right now I'm looking for primers before I run out. My next case is not due until 12-4-09

22 LR = 1000 rounds/year

40 S&W = 3000 rounds/year

22 magnum rifle = 1000 rounds/year

.223 = 2000 rounds/year

.308 = 1000 rounds/year

7.62x39 = 1000 rounds/year. I've got a stockpile of cheap wolf ammo for this one.

With this volume, handloading is a must.

This begs the question: why is ammo so commonly sold in packs of 50?

I can't think of any other product typically sold in units so much smaller than quantity used. I can fire off 3 boxes of ammo going at a leisurely pace in an hour even with one of them "slow" old-fashioned six-shooters. Selling ammo in boxes of 50 would be like making cereal boxes so tiny you could eat three for breakfast.

i was going to the range about every 2 weeks and on avg....
100-150 9mm
20 or so 357 mag (hard on hands)
100 ish 38 spl
20-50 .380 auto
and as much .22lr as i can shove in a mag... (fingers get sore after 300 to 500)

now unemployed so cant afford range cost that much, but i have plenty of ammo... down to 350 small pistol primers now...

depending on how much the army wants to keep me at work during a year.... but normally between 25,000-30,000rds a year. the majority of that handgun in .40 which i reload, about 5k in .223/5.56 for ar training, and about 1,000rds in 12ga.

Let's see. I don't exactly keep track, but I go to the range at least once a month and I bring at least four of my guns and expend about 200-300 rounds through each.

So, ~9,600 per year on the low end, and ~14,400 on the high end. It is a mix of .22s, .38s, 9mms, .357s, .44specials, .44Mags, and .45s.

I don't own a .40.

The .22 usually always goes to the range, with a mix of other calibers for the other three.
