I've been talking with a recruiter and doing paperwork since about the 11th of July. Rode down to Butte with him on Wed to take the ASVAB, which I scored a 94 on. That, by the way, is 94th percentile, not 94 percent. Then it was up at 0430 Thurs morning. Spent 0600 to about 1400 doing my MEPS stuff and getting the contract organized. Swore in at about 1415, and even that was an awesome experience. I am in the Delayed Entry Program. My date to ship down to San Diego for basic is October 9th. My MOS is 03, infantry, but they can't guarantee me a specific MOS in this field--I could be a rifleman, machinegunner, mortar man, or any of several other specific MOSs in the field of infantry. Anyways, I am stoked that I made it through MEPS with flying colors, even with a previous knee injury requiring surgery. I am glad I don't have to worry about basic training in Southern California during the summer and that I have time to work on my physical and mental fitness. I think I made the right decision and put myself in a position to improve myself, and the world around me, and that feels good. But I would be lying if I said I wasn't more than just a little worried about the challenges that lie ahead.

Congrats, you have made a life changing decision, just remember, no matter how hard it may seem, you can do it, they will not present you with any task that you are incapable of completing. remember that and it seems a whole lot easier, I myself am in the Infantry in the Army, at least for a couple more weeks until I reclass.

With an Asvab score like that you should be able to go into any MOS you want to, including becoming an officer or warrant officer just something to think about later down the road, I know I scored 76 on mine and can go into any MOS in the Army.

Anyways good luck brother, and welcome. I may be in the Army but I still have a lot of friends who are devil dogs.

Congratulations on making the decision to become a Marine!

You will be pushed, and you will become a better man for it.

Train hard, and I'll see you in the fleet as well.

There will indeed be challenges ahead. Nothing you cannot overcome, however. Congratulations on your decision, and thank you for your service.

Oh God, another one...

Just kidding. Marines are some of the best people I know. :D Good luck, and as one told me, "Keep your head down!" :)

HAHA. Nice try. But that sounds like a trap.
It was!

My son's best friend (who is a Marine) sent him a ladies thong when he was in basic. You can imagine the fun the DIs had with that!

Congrats and do everything they tell you as fast as you can and a loud as you can.

And Thank you

Congrats!

Thank you for your future service. Like I told my son when he went to Boot Camp, don't give up when its' tough, just hang in there for one more minute at a time.

Congrats and thank you for your future service.

As I've heard the Chair Force say about the marines..."Man, those guys are loud. Think I'll go get some coffee..."

welcome to our beloved corps, future devil dog.

This ex Navy Hospital Corpsman would like to say, thank you for your service and stay ASAP (as safe as possible).

Congradulations.

It's always the smart ones that want to be grunts.....

Just a heads up, your MOS is not guaranteed 03 unless you enlisted under the 0321 option. Your preference is 03xx, if you don't fill in the other two slots they default to open contract. You have time but you need to pick out two other MOS's and get your contract amended. MMEA has broken more than a couple young Marines hearts all for the "needs of the Corps."

Congrats Marine!

Remember, if you need close air support then feel free to call in our beloved Warthog!

21 + years crewing them and still loving it. :D

Congratulations & Thanks for serving your country.
In the beginning, it will be difficult. A lot will not make sense. But see it through, and you'll never regret it.

Best of luck,
Tuckerdog1

Don't know how it works in the Marines-

But my son, who is 2/3 of the way through his boot camp (Army), begged me NOT to send any food.....apparently they make the recruits eat it all on the spot.
It was tempting, but.....
