If you could only have one gun...

Let's say you were stuck in a peculiar position such as in the middle of the rain forest, wilderness, or tropical island with wildlife and could only have ONE autoloader with you, what would it be? You would use it for hunting, defense against large predatory animals, and hostile natives.

I would choose this:

Especially if there are things that would want to kill me!

If we're limited to handguns, I'd choose a HK USP in .357 SIG. Better for hunting than the .45 and equally effective on natives. Polymer won't rust, HK probably more accurate than Glock, and equally reliable. Otherwise, I'd take a SKS.

Ak pistol with single point sling, or KelTec PLR 16 with same, if absolutely restricted to pistol only. But to truely be well armed in the jungle, you need to wear a purple suit with skull ring, and two 1911s.

as far as handguns, something in .357 sig. probably a Glock. it makes sence for the situation you outlined. If I was a wheel gunner a .357 or .41mag could work

For handguns, a Walther P88 with a whole lot of spare mags and ammo. It's large capacity and superb reliability make it a logical choice. MachIV's choice of rifle would be a good one.

I would like to add that I'd also like to have a .22LR with me. In the jungle, a lot of the available food is going to be birds, small reptiles and small mammals. A gun to protect me from large predators is going to destroy most small game.

Somehow I think back to the many times in many different video games where I have to decide what weapon to spend my remaining cash/gp/plat...whatever, on. Kind of a multifaceted question, would I have to be naked if I sprung for the .50 cal Barrett? or would I be better off with a 1911, clothes and a tent...lol

If I could pack a rifle, I would go with a Ruger mini-14 in either 7.62x39 or that new 6.8 looks pretty salty.

If it were a shotgun, a synthetic stock, stainless (marine-coat) Mossy 500 12 gauge with alternating BB & OO Buck.

If it were a pistol, a 4" stainless GP100 with a couple speedloaders full of 158 LSWCHPs.

Probably in that order of preference if anything goes.

Beretta 96, you wouldn't believe the junk it can be dropped in and still perform well, Riot shotgun first choice though, good pump like the Mossberg 590A1 former USMC like me. Just something about racking a pump 12 ga. that takes the starch outta the enemy.

If I had to choose a handgun, it would be a Glock 20 with an ample supply of Double Tap 200 gr XTPs, with a 4" Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag coming in a close second stoked with a good 240 gr JHP.

But I would take my M1A long before I took a handgun.
