I voted pistol, I have a young son and I am concerned about over penetration with both a rifle and shotgun. I kept a mossy 590 hanging on the bed rail for years until the child came along. Now ia keep a XD 45 in the dresser next to the bed. Although I figure by the time I get to the BG the dog will have taken care of the problem. He is a 110 lbs of bad attitude when you wake him up from his sleep
