And I don't intend to. It's a (expletive deleted) silly question. If someone practices safe dry firing procedures, there will be no reason for anyone to risk reputation or holdings.

Well, the police academy in which I was trained advocated dry firing as a valid method of training. Aparently, that academy, as well as the CA POST board, feel safe in advocating such practices.
All of my instructors in firearms felt comfortable with the same. All of them had many years of experience with firearms, including several police snipers.
Yes, I have been shot at. I've also seen what a hollowpoint bullet does to a human head. I've been, in the past year, punched, kicked, choked, stabbed, and shot at. Why does that matter?
