This may be a little lenghty, but everyone loves noob stories right?
About a month ago i bought a G20c i just love, and been tricking it out since.
I did shoot it at the ranges locally twice and it was flawless.
i had added +2 mag extensions with upgraded springs,a wolf 22lb recoil spring and rod,a front tactical mount laser, beavertail extension, magwell and a wolf .40 conversion barrel.
so it was time to test the monster out.
i started out with 10mm and got 3 rounds out before the FTFeed's started and that was non stop for 3 clips.but the lazer flew off that tactical rail on the first clip, breaking the pressure pad wire.
about that time the slide would stick so far back i would call it a failure to cycle.
I felt embarresed as hell as a guying shooting a G21 next to me im sure saw everything and dieing laughing inside, but he didnt say anything.

I bet i had over $200 of parts added to this gun and now it was working like crap.right then and there i took every single piece ive added to the gun off and returned it to 100% stock and enjoyed the rest of my day shooting the worst i ever have.at 25 yards and 1 14 round clip i had 3 hits on the paper.
That was with the 10mm stock barrel.
The LWD .40 conversion barrel worked 100% perfectly and is a keeper, and i do recommend it.its even more accurate as i did get most of my shots with that on the paper.
The range master is a nice guy who i met the last time i was there and he had many helpfull tips and told me to stop useing my gun case as a rest and stand back up and shoot like i normally do and i was back on the paper again. :)

What i learned is adding parts to a gun doesnt make it better, and in most cases makes it unreliable.Im sure this doesnt apply to everyone and thier guns. But for me my gun will stay like Glock intended it.

This is a good lesson to learn now as i have plans of soon buying a 1911 and wanted it tricked out also, lol not now.i still plan on getting the gun, just with the sparkles added from the maker.

Not trying to make you feel worse, OP, but this reminded me of this guy. He showed up for our CHL qualifications with a super duper tactical Glock, with camouflage paint and all kinds of crap hanging off of it.

Well, the dude walked up looking all smug, and looked like he thought he was hot spit until he tried to load his first magazine.
He had brought .45acp for a 9x19 gun! Hahahahahah.

Our instructor was also really nice to him, even lent him a box of ammo!
My brother and I did our parts by keeping the laughter internal.

It's good that you're not stubborn, though, OP!

kudos!

stickhauler- i shared this couse i found it funny and informative.

CoRoMo- i checked his sig out, pretty fitting i must say.mentaly i think i was on mars or something.and i mounted everything, had a real smith done it im sure it would have had a better chance of working.

i at least had the right ammo :) and i didnt even confuse my .40's and ten's up.but i gotta admit i dont think i could buy the wrong ammo, even on a day like this.

as to my skills,im a person who was raised around guns and ive owned a few in my life.i havent target shot anything for 15 years.the only part of it i take serious is saftey and reliability.
if i have a bad day of shooting its just that, and nothing more.
its not an indication im an idiot.

Thanks for the post

I was just feeling sad that there arn't any games that I do well at with a DA only four inch M-15 S&W.
At least it will go bang and the parts don't fall off.
Handguns do have moon clips if you have a S&W 610 or 625.

Thanks again for the post.

I just think its funny that anytime someone mentions "clips" people almost break a finger trying to type " it's a MAGAZINE!":fire: Do y'all really feel the need to post this EACH and EVERYTIME someone says it? There are entire areas of this country where if you call it a magazine people will look at you funny. Try correcting a Marine Sergeant when he calls it a clip and see how far you get. It's like a bunch of Trekkies getting upset when someone gets an episode title wrong.
Sometimes its how you say it, not what you say. Mention it casually in an informative, friendly way, not in a "how dare you say that" kinda way. More flies with honey....

That's nothing. You should have seen the guy next to me at the Appleseed shooting his tricked out AK complete with $900 ACOG and couldn't hit a darn thing with it. He was *still* fiddling with the monstrosity while we were getting ready for the first drills.:scrutiny:

im actually pretty good with an AK,i sold the own i owned 15 years ago.i think it was chinese or something,i know it wasnt a yugo as thats what i wanted.

Sorry to hear about your embarrassing event at the range.

I routinely use Wolff recoil springs and on occasion a hammer spring if working on a heavy trigger. However, besides tritium sights and aftermarket grip panels, I've never added anything to any of my handguns for this very reason.
I don't want to deal with any frustrating failures and I certainly don't want to become dependant on these items.

I am absolutely an adherent of the k.i.s.s. philosophy.

Not to worry DASFRIEK we all have bad days and good ones, I remember a duck hunting trip years ago that my brother and I were on, we have both been hunting since the age of seven and were and still are very good shots.

But on this perticular day the ducks could not be working the decoys any better, flock after flock came in and after about thirty five to foury rounds we had only two on the water :banghead:, let's just say that we decided to pack it up and go home to avoid any more embarassment in front of the other hunters on the lake( we hunt a 2,000 acre lake that has about fifty blinds on it)

And on another note, please dissregard the very low road replies that some of the members see fit to post, I to have been a victim of their high brow snobbery and I have niether the time nor inclination to justify their ridiculous ramblings with a reply. :barf:

This is this! It's not something else, it's this![/I

Don't pull it if you don't plan to use it, and don't use it if you don't plan to kill!

ALWAYS REMEMBER OUR MEN AND WOMEN OVER THERE

i am surprised this thread hasnt been closed. imagine 2 people bantering like this in real life; keep kicking the dead horse, gentlemen.
