Man, I have a fun 10/22 (accessorized), thinking it;ll be my all time plinker (still is btw) but at the range last week, someone showed up w/ 2 kel tec sub 2000s next to me, one for 9mm and the other is a .40. They were folded in his gym bag and i was surprised when there's 2 rifles/ carbines next to me when i finished a mag ( handgun). Wearing ear plugs and muffs, both carbines sounded like they have silencers - very quiet.

I didn't know what they were by then until i asked him, and boy they were head turners. Btw, the range was packed so him and his lady warmed up at the 7 yds handgun range. they sure seemed fun to shoot i had to ask him if we can trade a mag or 10 rds. He said sure. I only have my 9mm handgun so i loaded it up and he gave me the one in .40. I learned that my ear muff got in the way but at 7 yds i managed to squeeze a 1.5" ragged hole off hand. I wanted to shoot more but he found an open lane at the 50 yds, so he took off.

In short, i really like to own one of those, especially when i learned that they can take glock 30 rd mag. Man, if only i don't have mortgage payments....

My friend I feel your pain, but mine is somewhat more permanent: I am not allowed to have one of those here in the UK.
Last year I fired a Subbie with a 30 rnd Glock mag at a range in Florida. I loved it!
The only bad thing was that it isn't muff friendly. You have to get really slim muffs. Folding carbine, a pleasure to shoot. That Subbie is definitely on my wish list if I ever relocate.

I've had a Sub2K in 9mm for several years now, and I just love shooting that thing. You're right about wearing muffs with it - makes it impossible for me to get down behind the sight properly. Anyone else who has shot it has just had a blast with it as well.

And I love that I can have a long gun in a pizza box! Sweet!!

I've got one in 9mm and really like it. The folding ability is cool, and I've found it to be accurate and reliable. It eats anything I throw in it.

I wear muffs and can still shoot it fine.

The only drawback is as a lefty you do notice the hot gas exiting the ejection port, but it's not a deal breaker.

It's a blowback design and should be cleaned after use. It's quick and easy to disassemble once you done it a couple of times.

I paid $300 new 6 months or so ago, and I think they're a steal at that price.

Fun guns, unique. Function well. Light weight. Love the mag interchanbeability. Hate the triggers though.

Kel-Tec sub 2k

Anybody here that owns a Kel tec sub 2000 ? I am just curious , I have one on order from my local gun dealer and I ordered it almost three months ago and it still has not come in yet ?!?! I emailed Kel-tec customer service about it and they said that because it is on back order that it may take 3 - 6 months for delivery - what was the length of time that you had to wait for yours ? The company is located in Cocoa FL and I live in jacksonville FL so you would think that a company thats only 2 hours away could get it here a little sooner than later ? Has anyone actually had to wait the whole 6 months ? Im like a kid on a 3 month long Christmas Eve here !! :banghead:

I have a sub2k .40 and LOVE IT! I picked it up used, but in excellent shape, in oct 2008 for $405 including 3 15 round mags and 4 10 rounders! Shooting off a sandbag I can hit a 6" metal plate target all day long @ 50 yards. At 75 yards COM hits on an IPSC target are easy. The best part is that it folds in 1/2!

I couldn't find one locally either, and I called all around a huge area.

KelTec makes batches of their guns at a time, it can take them some time to get back around to a particular gun, at least that's the story on KTOG.org, the Kel-Tec user site.

What I finally did was call the factory and ask which distributors got the last batch. They wouldn't tell me but said if I had my dealer call, they would tell him.

He did, they did, and he was able to get me one.

I give my dealer credit for charging me the price he quoted when he thought it would be no problem to get me one. He discounted it over $100 from MSRP, which was $408 at the time, down to $299.

I got a Glock 17 version, which are tough to find, only the Glock 19 version is more difficult to locate. I wanted a Glock 19, but wasn't prepared to turn the 17 version down.

I got it a month or so before the election, which may also be why they're tough to find now, same as many other guns.

I talked to a lady at the KelTec booth at the S.H.O.T. Show about that gun. She said it was their slowest seller, so I assume they don't produce a lot of them.

Looks like you'll have to wait for the next run .......

You know I got real excited about this gun when I first read about it. I then read all the praise about it on different forums. I could not find one locally at all and almost had a dealer order me one. Later I went to a large gun show and saw one. After handling it I was disappointed. There is no way I could shoot one of these things its way to short. Plus I thought the sights were awful. Also it just looked cheap to me.

Please note that this is my opinion so I am sure some would disagree with me. I wish Glock would make a small rifle/carbine that would take Glock 17 mags. That would be sweet and I would pay good money for one.

BBA - yeah, they make them in batches, then send them out whenever. I had to order mine and wait about four months. But it was worth it!

I've had one Subbie for over 5 years and never had a problem at all. Its the Glock 17 version and yes its a tack driver. I bought 33 round factory Glock mags when they were around $20.oo a piece and have quite a few of them. My son liked it so much we found him a Glock 19 version and its great also. We've shot just about every kind of ammo you could think of and never had even a jam, except some reloads and they didn't have enough poop to eject. Anyway if you can find them grab one as the 2 we have are definately shooters. Also they are short as someone stated but not to short. I keep mine in a laptop computer bag with 5-33 round mags loaded and walked into hotels and all sorts of places and no one ever noticed, kinda scary. Anyway as you probably can tell I'm sold on them and they may appear cheap and plasticy but they work just like a weapon is suppossed to.

"It's way too short.... sights were awful..... looked cheap...."

The factory makes a stock extension that costs about $10, a Hi-Point 995 metal front sight will fit with a little work, they ARE cheap, at least compared with the $1K+ Evil Black Guns.

I still think it's a bargain considering the unique folding ability, the reliability, the accuracy, and a fun factor you can't put a price on.

The KTsub2K is the smallest carbine made with a 16" barrel that can be collapsed to 16". It can be carried folded with a single point sling concealed under a coat and rapidly deployed. It has an effective range better than any handgun. Don't like the sights? Aftermarket sights are available as are rail attatchments and lasers. The only folks with overall negative opinions about them seem to be those that never shot one.

I love the sub 2k. It fits in lap top bag. Has 33+1 capacity and takes the same mags as my G19. Its a handy little carbine with all the accuracy it needs. Oh and it cost me a whooping $268. It is a lot of bang for the buck.

Kel-Tec sub 2000

Thanks for everyones info here , Im already sold on it myself no matter what anybody says - its one of those things that I just know that im gonna like it ?
It seems to be alot cheaper for most than what I was quoted on $460 for the kts2k , but I worked out a better deal after all . I already have a nice zip-up pouch for it with mag holders I ordered from "cheaper than dirt" and bought 2 - 33 rnd clips @ $50 ea , 2 - 17 rnd cclips @ $33 ea , a picitiny rail mount , grip sleeve , and rubber butt pad from Kel-Tech's online store - so Im pretty much invested already , just need to wait out the storm until it comes in to my gun dealers store ?!!?
Until then I bought a nice pistol from my dealer , a Taurus 917c 9mm taht came with 1 - 19 rnd clip and 1 - 17 rnd clip plus the box (a beautiful gun !)
peace out bro's ~ Bill:fire:

Yeah... the price gouging is on. I am guilty too... when I saw what people are selling them for, I put mine on the market. Sold it in 2 weeks for $625 with 2 Glock 33 round mags. Pricey for a $300 gun, but that is the current market.

I will wait till KT makes another batch, and pick up another one for $300. Considering that last year I got a very nice AK for less than Subbies are going for today, I'd rather wait it out than get raped.

Subs are great guns, but not $500+ great.

I saw 2 9mm Sub2ks (one took S&W mags, the other glock) for $349 at a gun show last weekend. I think there are lots of people out there making a quick buck...but it just pays to shop around.

I also own one for Glock 17 or 18 mags. I agree that the trigger is not the smoothest I've ever fired but for $200.00 used I really can't complain too much.

I just picked one up in 9mm that uses Glock magazines and I really like it. I was going to put optics on it but the rifle is what it is so Im not going to mess with it.
