Lack of Respect for the 10mm

Everybody writes about the 9mm being enough gun,the 40 being enough and weather to go to a 45. One person wrote about a Glock 44 Mag. If any of guys would get a 10mm it would solve all your problems. Load it hot it will take care of most any thing or go a little light and will shot like a 40 or a little less and it shoot like a 9mm.
Do yourselves a favor and the next time your going to buy a semi get a 10mm. Dont worry about recoil as it is a little more than a 45. You will not regreet buying a 10mm. My frist semi was a Glock 20 10mm and when a got more money together my next gun it was a Glock 20 10mm. And when I get more money for another gun it is going to be a 10mm.
And if you reload get Lee dies for the 10mm. They are the only ones that I know of that resize the whole case and removes the little bulge around the middle of the the case

FishS, I second your take on the 10MM. It's the "cat's memo". That reminds me that I need to order an other box of 500 165 gn. Rainier bullets from Midway USA - they are only about $62.00/500

A few (I'm sure there are more)

Colt Delta Elite
Kimber Eclipse
EAA
STI perfect 10
Dan Wesson razorback (not produced any longer)
Not sure about Nighthawk
Wilson Combat

I have 2 Delta Elites

The 10mm seems to be ( I hate saying this ) too much power for the home. What ammo could I get that lightens the 10mm load down to where I will not shoot my neighbor...

Most of the factory 10mm loadings are the equivalent of 40 S&W loadings. Get a box of Federal 180 HydraShoks, the FBI loading, and you will have pretty much what you are asking for.

Finding low powered factory ammo is easy. Finding full power 10mm ammo from a factory is a little harder. I settled for home loaded ammo for the "good stuff". If you start with factory primed brass, it even LOOKS like factory ammo...............

Next pistol I get will probably be a 10mm. I'll probably just end up getting a Glock 20, but I wish there was some competitor to the Glocks and high dollar 1911's for the 10mm. Oh well. What I'd really like to see is a Glock chambered in 7.62x25 Tokarev. Of course, the chances of that happening are about equal to my odds of getting a date this week.

Dont get me wrong but I think the 10mm is a dying round. The 40 is plenty for SD and the 357 is better suited for hunting (with handloads of course) just doesn't seem to be a practical use for the big 10.

I think the 10mm round is wonderful, when not too watered down. My only experience was with a full size, steel Witness. It shot wonderfully - as a semi-semi-auto. The frame absorbed the recoil nicely and felt like I was shooting a more mild round than my Glock 22. The issue with the gun was a FTF that consumed more funds in parts and test ammo than I originally paid for the pistol. New extractor, extractor spring, recoil spring variations, multiple mags, new mag spring and follower... the list goes on. EAA smith was as helpful as the soup nazi.

I've purchased probably twenty different handguns since then and, with my 3rd gen Smith experiences, would likely pick a 1006 next time.

No more 10mm's in my future until I begin to reload though. Until then my 9mm's are great for capacity usage and my .45's make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

I don't have a lack of respect for the 10mm, I have a lack of respect for the Glock 10mm. I don't like their undercut chambers or the thought of a lot of aftermarket mods so I can reload for a pistol that doesn't handle well for me. I plan on building a 10mm on a 1911 frame as soon as the new job starts to pan out for me.

That said, shoot what you like. This wasn't meant as a slam against Glock. For my needs, I want what I want and what I think will better serve my needs.

No lack of respect here ...

What separates the confident striders from the ambivalent "swishies" ...
