I'm no fan of .357 in a snubby if one wants to carry one comfortably, unobtrusively, and if you want hand stinging recoil, then I'm sure you can find a hot enough .38 S&W round to satisfy your need for pain; here's my recommendations...

The Stainless S&W Bodyguard J frame .38 Special is the M49. The same in .357 Magnum is the M649. The M38 was a Blued .38 Special with a alloy Bodyguard frame. The M638 is a Sliver Alloy Bodyguard frame. S&W brought back the Blued alloy Aluminum Bodyguard J frame a few years ago, the M438. (really anodized Aluminum) I really like that one!Dlowe,
Then a stainless Bodyguard S&W sounds like the deal (and older Bodyguard, not the polymer one made today.)
I think it was called the model 38 and stainless 638.
They even made a .357 version.

Thanks,
Then I recommend the 649!
I use my 640-1 .357 alot now (my 340SC with full Cor-Bon DPX .357s just hurt my wrist to much.)
And my secondary is a older 640 .38 Spl. with Ebony Secret Service stocks.
Both are might handy carry guns especially if you have practice versions (my 642 and 34 kit gun) for range use.
