Looks like the panic buying has already started.

Went by my favorite gun store today, and there are half as many firearms as last week:

Only one AR-pattern rifle is in stock, and it's a consignment, no-name 7.62x39 model.

High cap mags? Nope. Glock mags are gone from all the distributors too. Luckily they found 30 PMags as they came up at a distributor and got their hands on them.

Shotguns seem to have sold well too, as did hunting rifles.

People are thinking a new ban is in the works, and are getting while they can I suppose. As it is, the excess supply ordered for Christmas is gone.

Derek I have read the same thing from others and it might be a regional thing but where there is smoke etc etc. I am getting ready to move overseas and should sell all mine but every time I pull them out I just look and put all back in the safe; allot of memories in those things...Duh!

If this wasn't from the system admin I'd say "BS, second source that stuff." :)

But I've gotten no less than a dozen text messages and e-mails this weekend from friends asking where they can buy stuff. People who have NEVER owned a gun before asking where they can get an AR-15, or "is this a good price for XYZ", and so on.

It didn't happen after the election, but there is definitely the early sign of a run on guns and ammo happening now.

(EDIT; This is in Illinois, BTW)

I confess I bought 6 30 round AR-15 magazines from Bravo Company Manufacturing yesterday.

Only thing I've never got around to buying extras for, was spare magazines for my SCAR 17S.

Anyone got a line on them?

I have to admit I bought a Remington 597 magazine today even though I don't have the rifle yet. I don't think hedging is stupid at all, given that I *didn't* hedge in 1994 and got burned badly.

Having said that, I'm hopeful that no new bans will pass, but I'll probably pick up a couple PMags in the next couple of weeks if I can find any.

Bought a couple more Ruger factory 20-rounders for my mini-14 last night, plus another another thousand rounds of M855. I wanted M193 but that is apparently already all gone from the usual online outets.

I'm really afraid they'll go after 5.56 ammo in some way this time, as there are only a tiny number of non-semiauto rifles that take that cartridge.

I was 17 in 1994. I got burned WAY worse than you. :(

By the time I was 21, I had to spend $125 each on Glock 21, 13 round magazines. (I still have and use those magazines too!)

Not sure if it was panic buying, but lots of sales this weekend at the gun show.

I just want to find a regular 10/22 or Mark III in stock somewhere! Local Academy Sports has plenty of AR's.

Does the panic buying at all point out to legislators that there are a bunch of people whom they would piss off if they vote for anti-gun bills?

Probably tells them there are a lot of people they need to stop so we can keep these dangerous guns off the streets. I don't know about you, but I don't want my Ruger revolver going to prom with an inbred assault weapon.

Couldn't happen to be because it's Christmas time could it?
I did notice a lot more women at the gun show this weekend.

Well, I'm heading out to my LGS to buy my first EBR, we'll see how it goes. BTW, firearms owner for 50+ years and my M1A was going to be my one and only.

No more if I can make it work.

Dan

The gunshow here in Cincinnati had a line to get in from open to close Saturday. I've NEVER seen that.

Two kinds of people in line:

Get it before its banned

Those that realized the only person that can protect you is YOU.

I heard a local report this morning that said some buyers were waiting up to four hours for the "instant" NICS checks this weekend.

I stopped by an LGS yesterday to pick up a Magpul AFG2 and kill some time. Crazy busy, lots of "before it gets banned" talk, and over 1,600 Insta-checks (CBI version of NICS) pending with a 23 hour estimated wait when I left there about 4 O'clock.

Now people really understand why some of us had been spending substantial amounts of money on firearms, ammo and magazines ever since the ban expired. I came of ago during the ban, so knew exactly how it affects those who never had a chance to buy in advance. And many others.....

I have a number of friends who want these things, but didn't prioritize like I did. One of them kept putting off his stripped lower until I finally pushed him enough, and he'll only have an upper because I ordered and paid for it for him with a lax repayment option. The folks who delayed and procrastinated are sorry now, and may be really sorry later.

Stopped by the 2 local gun stores I buy from and they are busy. One was out of PMags and the other had them hidden in the back for their regular customers. The benefit of purchasing from your local gun shop pays off in times like these. Picked up 10 of the 30 rounders since I needed some anyway now that I have 2 AR's.

Hard time finding 9mm ammo this weekend. LGS store where I bought my two most recent guns called me to advise they just received a shipment of 9mm Gold Dots, expected them to go quick. Bought several boxes.

Already bought an extra hi cap mag for my SR9c. Sure would love a night stand gun and a smaller carry gun, but funds are limited. Oh well...

I'm tempted to go the other way. I have an AR...shot it exactly once. I may sell it and all the trimmings to avoid the hassle that may happen. I mean if I shot 3-gun or something that'd be different. I just wanted one. Take the money and hang on to it to buy 10-round mags for all my carry guns I suppose. Buy a nice lever action or bolt action or something.

Got some feelers out with the chaps at work. Might take a decent offer from somebody I know. If it was all for naught, I'll just buy another one someday.

Who know what I or anybody else will really do here.

I didn't get many emails after the election. This week I've had tons of emails asking if I have ARs or lowers in stock. It is almost as busy as when Obama got elected the first time.

I was going to be one of those panic buyers myself. I don't own an AR15 yet, but it is on my "list", and was before all this happened. However, I was going to buy some PMag's today as I don't own any AR15 mags at all. Seems like I'll need to wait a bit longer.

yea every time a go to walmart for groceries and what not I pick up a cheap 50 pack of 9mm, or some cheap tulammo 7.62 just to stock pile. Not last night, their must have been 20 people in line back there. Pisses me off, we just starting to get back to normal from the election panic buying.

There was quite a line in Sharonville 4 years ago. Been there, done that. I had no intention of going anywhere near that place this past weekend.
