I just noticed, not only is there the references to bun-bun, but also to Emergency Pants. Truly, this was an inspired work.

Just ask Nightcrawler, he's had to talk me down from killing like everybody in the Mr. Nightcrawler III.

Since you mentioned it (and not to highjack this thread), but what is the status on this MUCH ANTICIPATED trilogy?

BTW: congrats on your book!

Just wondered if anyone besides me wonders what Franks really is. If Z is so big, fast, and tough, and Franks destroyed him so easily, and Harbinger is the King of Werewolves and seems to be impressed, then what is he?

My bet is that he is a cyborg created by the gov't for monster hunting.

Jesse, I can neither confirm, nor deny. But I can assure you, he isn't Janet Reno.

Franks is a much more important character in book II. He's assigned as Owen's bodyguard to protect him from the threat at the end of book I. And I will answer what he is, and a little bit about his past.

Then his full story is explained, from his point of view, in Monster Hunter Nemesis. Which comes right after Harbinger's story in Monster Hunter Alpha. :)

Book II is still coming along. My goal is to have it available by the end of 2008, but that's going to be tough.

Mr. Nightcrawler III is still coming along, but the real NC is a busy dude. I'm still talking him into actually publishing the NC Trilogy, and not just posting it online.

ETAs for future books in the series may be changing...

'Cause I just got picked up by a major publisher. :)

Details will follow as they develop, but I just got offered a contract with one of the largest and most well known publishers of sci-fi and fantasy in the business.

Will we be seeing your works on the Baen schedule? ;)

Well, I thought the book sucked. Way too many guns, no one got in touch with their feelings, and violence was the first, last, and only solution to everyones problems. We all know evil industrialists are the the real monsters, those poor vampires and wights were pawns and forced out of their natural habitat by global warming. Owen as the oppressive male misogynist was a terrible leading character. Figures one of the womyn characters would be a pre-pubescent boys fantasy stripper, and the other handles those horrible guns and just has to have a jerk man in her life. Go find yourself a BFF, girlfriend! And if there has to be vampires, why can't they be the sexy ones from Anne Rice books?

There you go, just post that review on all the liberal websites and you should get some more readers :p

On a more serious note, one thing I noticed, much like any Joss Wheedon production, is that most of the characters share the same sarcastic, cynical sense of humor. Which is fine by me, as I have the same type of personality, but you might want to try to vary the humor style a bit. Though I suppose being in the monster hunting business either attracts people with or develops folks "gallows humor".

il be honest. the dark humor really makes it for me. its defiantly job relevant humor. people in dangerous jobs (police, soldiers... monster hunters.) has very dark, cynical, ironic sense of humor

best line to me...

So did you score with your friends dead mom?

Sounds gross when you put it that way... i got to second base before i realized she wasn't breathing

I enjoyed the MHI first book and will pay full price for the second. Normally I shop used or half-price books but this will be an exception.

And congrats on getting signed with a big name. My bet is on Baen books.

Bart Noir
"Just how many guns do you have?" - P.O.'d vampire. Loved that line, and many more.

Got my copy Thursday and finished it Sat.

Don't know when the last time I've read a book that is actually entertaining and makes me laugh out loud.
